flame
A flame (from Latin flamma) is the visible, gaseous part of a fire. It is caused by a highly exothermic chemical reaction taking place in a thin zone. Very hot flames are hot enough to have ionized gaseous components of sufficient density to be considered plasma.
When the grill is on high the flame slightly pinges through the metal seem on/under the burner. You can just about see the flame on the picture under the main flame line. Only happens when grill is on full. Anyone came across this before? Anyone think it is a reason to condemn the cooker?
Hi all,
First post so hello and thanks in advance for any advice you guys can give me.
We have a Baxi 105e combi boiler that about 2 weeks ago suddenly stopped working. Other half had the heating on over night to dry some washing, knocked it off in the morning but then noticed there was no hot...
Hello all, I've just had an ideal logic plus 30 installed in my loft, replacing an existing vented system. The boiler works fine, until you put the front outer cover on, then it fires for a short time and cuts out on flame failure, remove the cover and it works perfectly?
I understand that it...

Hi I had a call out the other day after a guy disconnected a gas cooker as it went to full flame after lighting, he wrote if off as fsd inopp (straight to full flame), now I thought If the burner had a thermocouple as this one did then the burner would light to full flame and only be controlled...
Hi all, we went to a boiler where both central heating and dhw would turn on then off again. We then cleaned the plate heat exchanger thinking it would solve the problem but there was no change.
We then opened the combustion chamber. Please see attached pic. I take it the black marks and...
Hi, I have an ideal classic ff230 and this evening when the heating came on I noticed a rather loud whining noise coming from the boiler near the top and when I looked in the little inspection window, the flames were yellow rather than blue, so I have immediately turned it off and phoned the...
Hi All,
Been through the older posts but not found what I hoped for.
Been out to Betacom 24C with a flame failure fault.
Disconnected condensate sensor (condensate is clear
Changed ionisation probe
Changed main PCB board
Checked earthing
Still no joy. Still shows flame failure fault...

Hi All,
i am looking at a fault on an ISAR M30100. Boiler fires up ok but after a few hours it goes out and comes up with an LF code. I am thinking of changing the flame sensor as it seems similar to the manual suggestion but this states the boiler goes out after 10 seconds. Is there anything...
Hi all when you solder, a copper to copper pipe do you remove the heat source when you apply the solder, when the joint is hot enough?
Corgi says you should? confused thanks?

Had look around for a blowtorch free method for copper and came across two;
One I looked at in past and thought likely others come across and tried, Antex PipeMaster and the like - any good?
And second one, Just For Copper by a South African company, WRAS (?) approved too. Anybody seen/used?
Hello again,
I am starting a new thread regarding new problem. Today I have switched on my Grant boiler euro flame for the first time this year. For the last 2 hours it has been firing every 5 mins, not sure if it's cutting out. Have turned down thermostat on wall but still the same.
I have...
Baxi 105 HE, will only stay lit if the condense trap connections are disconnected. I had a look and they didn't seem to be wet, I took out the screws and connectors, the plastic was slightly cracked. But couldn't see any other issue. I've ordered a new trap, but is there anything else I should...
Hi guys looked through threads for faults on this just want to clarify. Went to the boiler this eve soon as I turn it on the flame failure light comes on. Boiler seems to be doing everything but going to ignition sequence although by chance it did ignite once on hot water .. Once out of 20 times...
Morning all
Got a call late yesterday to the above, bit of a long story about this job as the custard is an EX insurance custard of mine, but the insurance company sent someone else out to the job 3 weeks ago.
The engineer changed the PCB, HT leads & some other bit's but the boiler is still...

hi there, I had a friend call me to check a boiler he was trying to repair, I work mostly on installs. It was an ideal logic +24, when I got there it made a rumbling noise after firing, which I thought it could be condensate blocked. Cleared the trap, fired boiler up...
Hi there, looking for some advice like many others, I mostly do installs and was asked by a friend to have a look at a boiler he was stuck on, existing ideal logic, with a vertical flue. At first by the rumbling sound after firing I thought it to be the condensate choked, tried that which it did...
