flame

A flame (from Latin flamma) is the visible, gaseous part of a fire. It is caused by a highly exothermic chemical reaction taking place in a thin zone. Very hot flames are hot enough to have ionized gaseous components of sufficient density to be considered plasma.

Glow Worm Micron 30FF Slight Yellowing Of Flame?

I have a Glow Worm Micron 30FF and I cleaned the burner today. When I fired it up there was some slight yellowing of flames but is that normal? The other thing was the whole of the burner didn't light until I gently blew on the flames, I thought maybe this was due to the cover plate being off?

Why the flame sign is always on

Hi, I installed Sime Brava One 30 BF on my 150 Sqare meters home. Boiler 'no flame' cutout with sensible current through flame sensor.

Hi. I have a Chaffoteaux HE 30 which keeps locking out with errors of (mostly) no flame (E04) or (occasionally) flame lift (E18). During the startup cycle a flame is visibly present, and the current through the flame sensor is about 5 - 8 microamps (see pic) until it locks out. Should that not...

Is this ridiculous (boiler serviced and flame adjusted with flue buried in snow)?

The boiler downstairs was serviced (not to be confused with the one with the gas leak - this is a separate boiler). The chap said the flame was not burning that well and so he readjusted it. All seemed well. Today I looked up at the house. Given that the downstairs boiler is never used...

Can an existing open flame gas fire be serviced?

We have an existing open flame gas fire ( installed years ago) we are now told it needs to be taken out because it is lit by hand and gas regulations say it is illegal, the engineer wouldn’t service it. Our previous gas safe engineer has retired but he never mentioned any problems, they tell us...
