  • Hi. Recently fitted a new capacitor on a old riello burner with a manual fan. It sounded brand-new and lasted for a few months working good. The other day just stopped working when turned on it's a faint buzz then off? Would this be the motor seized? It is a 20 year old burner. Thanks
  • Anyone got a pdf I can get please! Need it to calibrate a new pump. Tried everywhere. No success.
  • Hi all – sorry to post as a newbie. I'm a homeowner – although with some technical bent … We have an ancient (probably 1987) oil boiler Perrymatics Jetstreme Mk2 running on Kerosene. Works beautifully. Have had it serviced until a year or two ago – and not since the pandemic … This heats (DHW […]
  • Have a problem with an oil fired AGA conversion Has been no problem for 5 years, now goes out 12 to 36 hours after lighting, have checked fire valve, and have installed seperate line from tank to feed AGA went for 3 weeks one time, then went out due high winds. Has now started same […]
  • The boiler is a Warmflow B1 Oil CH Boiler. Does the thermostat fail in an open state or closed state with a hard failure? Can they simply start to malfunction and not control the temperature correctly in a soft fail situation? The boiler is working but the homeowner says it's running all the time. Thanks.
  • I have a SIP space heater and fitted a new matching spec oil nozzle as part of a service on it. I wanted to check the pump pressure with the new nozzle and its difficult to be sure what port to connect to. And that these pumps are definitely adjustable! I turned an Allen screw […]
  • Hi How simple is it to replace the expansion vessel hose? Do I simply turn the boiler off, drain the boiler and swap hoses, using some PTFE tape?
  • Got this from a friend which allegedly was in continuous use for 35 years!!, the (Firebird) boiler was/is running on a mixture of 75% "diesel" + 25% kerosene, the nozzle itself seems to be of a different material to the modern ones, it was spotlessely clean when I dissassembled it, I would love to know […]
  • Noticed today that the ground looked damp around the outside of our Worcester Bosch Heatslave 25/32 External Boiler. Took the cover off and warm water is pooling in the base of the unit. Can't see an obvious leak and all the components are dry. I'm guessing it's the thermal store leaking. Is there any way […]
  • Heatslave II 25/32 water leak from PHE Inlet block. When DHW PRV fitting was removed a white flat seal/washer was found in 3 pieces. This seal is not listed on any diagram. It sits ahead of the rubber o ring item 45 on drawing and has has the same ID and OD as the oring […]
  • Been in property about 10 years and the valve on the (round/bunded) Balmoral tank has always been in pretty rusty state. Tank is 5,000 litres but only got about 300L left at the moment. Please see picture. Looking for opinions on whether to get valve/filter assembly replaced due to rust or if I am worrying […]
  • Hi Folks I'm wondering anyone here, has any indepth knowledge on the Worcester Heatslave Combi Boiler. This boiler is quite old (2006) but it has been very reliable, and also runs at superb efficiency when tested, regularly serviced etc. The boiler is in a very old stone cottage (built 1791), and to ensure the building […]
  • I have a Grant Vortex Blue 26kw external oil boiler, installed less than 12 months ago. It's had intermittent non-starting problems resulting in multiple warranty visits, part replacements and eventually burner replacement. The replaced burner I discovered was a 'yellow flame' one, apparently the same as on the Grant Vortex Pro model. Having questioned this […]
  • Hi, I have a combi boiler that fails to fire up and sustain the burn. I read a similar post on this site but it doesn't precisely match my needs hence this post. Let me explain, and apologies for the less technical description since I use a plumber for my problems but he seems stuck […]
  • Hi, I have a three-zone 2016 house with gas heating. When the downstairs heating switches off, it bangs extremely loudly. I have tried adding clips and it only helps to a point, I would have to take down plasterboard to get at the noisest part. The valve appears to be the correct direction. I have […]
  • I have been told that I can't have a mains pressure unvented hot water cylinder with a back boiler on a wood burning stove as the heat source is uncontrollable. Is there a method to make the heat source controllable? I was imagining that if the cylinder was at its maximum temperature then if there […]
  • Hi, Newbie here so feel free to teach me the etiquette of this place, and apologies for the lengthy opening post. The boiler started locking out on Friday after a long period of faultless running, there was a bit of gunk on the back of the (newish) nozzle (Danfoss Nozzle 0.65 x 80 EH) , […]
  • Hi, just fitted a new fuel pump and control unit to my ecotherm boiler but I still can’t get any fuel to the top of the pump, nothing coming out of the bleed screw but definitely fuel in the bottom of the pump. I checked the voltage to the pump and it’s only 80volts but […]
  • Closed heating system, approx 14 years old with oil fired boiler, feeding around 18 radiators over 2 floors. One small radiator nearest the boiler and downstairs repeatedly fills up with hydrogen over a period of about 4 weeks. Hydrogen is suspected as it can be ignited and there is no smell. System was flushed and […]
  • Hi all, can anyone confirm to me what the difference is between a heatslave 15/19 and 20/25 physically? So the reason for the question is if I bought a second hand 20/25, could I strip it down and use most of the parts as spares on my 15/19. From what I can gather, heat exchanger […]
