lever
A lever ( or US: ) is a simple machine consisting of a beam or rigid rod pivoted at a fixed hinge, or fulcrum. A lever is a rigid body capable of rotating on a point on itself. On the basis of the locations of fulcrum, load and effort, the lever is divided into three types. Also, leverage is mechanical advantage gained in a system. It is one of the six simple machines identified by Renaissance scientists. A lever amplifies an input force to provide a greater output force, which is said to provide leverage. The ratio of the output force to the input force is the mechanical advantage of the lever. As such, the lever is a mechanical advantage device, trading off force against movement. The formula for mechanical advantage of a lever is

Hi all,
I've been having problems with a fitted toilet and water leaking into the bowl. On inspection I've come to the conclusion that it must be the float valve.
I've managed to remove and check the outlet valve with not much problem and I've also unclipped the float valve from the side of...
Hi, I've just renewed most of the washers in my mixer but remain with a leak from the lever that diverts the water to the shower head. Does anyone know how these come off (if at all)? I can't see any screws or alan key slot and i've tried turning but it seems hard and I don't want to break if I...
Hi Folks,
Wondering if you can shed some light on how to remove my cold water lever tap. The problem is that I am getting no flow coming out of my cold tap. There is flow out of the hot tap but not the cold. I have managed to pull off the metal lever tap but unsure how to disassemble the rest...
Hi, this photo shows a close-up of the top of a shower control handle/lever, which rotates to turn on the water, and the back plate fixed to the tiled wall. There is a gap between them and if you look closely can just see the brass valve to which the lever is fitted. Water is getting in here, as...
Hi All
This is my first post.
Please see attached to this post some pics of the set-up of my boiler.
The pressure has dropped to 0.8bar and I was trying to top up the system by opening the two taps connected to the silver flexi pipe but that didnt work.
I am not sure what I am doing wrong...

Went to a job today customer had new lever mixer fitted in kitchen, poor hw flow on hot side. Seen this a few times now. Is it a problem usually with these?
Not a combi.
Are conex iso valves usually pretty reliable? I.e they won't leak from the slotted section on the valve years later if turned off and on for maintaince work.

Hi,
So basically I have a side flush system where the arm was attached to the C link on the syphon via the coil displayed in the picture. This coil has corroded and subsequently snapped today. I thought it would just be a case of buying a plastic lever arm to attach to the existing arm however...
As anyone came across a motorised valve without the manual lever? I had one with was a honey well 28 mm the merchant said it's for back boilers and they open up when a power cut has occurred. They are hard wired in.

Just came back from this job nice install, unvented, 2 heating zones and underfloor. What baffled me though is the installer went from 22mm to 28mm only then to Tee off for motorised valves in 22mm straight away. Did he run out of 22mm Tees or has a fetish for 28mm fittings? Or is it a common...
