lever
A lever ( or US: ) is a simple machine consisting of a beam or rigid rod pivoted at a fixed hinge, or fulcrum. A lever is a rigid body capable of rotating on a point on itself. On the basis of the locations of fulcrum, load and effort, the lever is divided into three types. Also, leverage is mechanical advantage gained in a system. It is one of the six simple machines identified by Renaissance scientists. A lever amplifies an input force to provide a greater output force, which is said to provide leverage. The ratio of the output force to the input force is the mechanical advantage of the lever. As such, the lever is a mechanical advantage device, trading off force against movement. The formula for mechanical advantage of a lever is

Hi all. I did my unvented course today and asked the question about using a full-bore lever valve as a stopcock. The guy who owns the training centre was teaching us and he said that it's not illegal to fit full-bore lever valves in place of stopcocks now. The water in the riser main is...

I've a Blanco branded monoblock top lever tap that's leaking through the top lever.
The lever itself comes off easily enough and opens onto a small well with a steel ball joint and the water is pressing out through this area as the lever is moved.
Do I need to scrap the tap and buy another...

I have isolated the supply and stripped the tap down to a blue circular plastic cylinder with a "ratcheted" top from where the lever mechanism comes out. I can't unscrew it by hand or pull it out to see what the problem is. Is there some special too to engage the ratchet and unscrew?

I've got hold of an ex-display tap which is missing it's lever, but I can't find a replacement that fits.
Does anyone know what brand of tap uses this type of lever? I looked in B&Q and Homebase but all the levers there screwed into the tap - mine looks like a larger lever fits over the tiny...
