chemicals
A chemical substance is a form of matter having constant chemical composition and characteristic properties. Some references add that chemical substance cannot be separated into its constituent elements by physical separation methods, i.e., without breaking chemical bonds. Chemical substances can be simple substances, chemical compounds, or alloys. Chemical elements may or may not be included in the definition, depending on expert viewpoint.Chemical substances are often called 'pure' to set them apart from mixtures. A common example of a chemical substance is pure water; it has the same properties and the same ratio of hydrogen to oxygen whether it is isolated from a river or made in a laboratory. Other chemical substances commonly encountered in pure form are diamond (carbon), gold, table salt (sodium chloride) and refined sugar (sucrose). However, in practice, no substance is entirely pure, and chemical purity is specified according to the intended use of the chemical.
Chemical substances exist as solids, liquids, gases, or plasma, and may change between these phases of matter with changes in temperature or pressure and time. Chemical substances may be combined or converted to others by means of chemical reactions.
After seeing the thread about "blast tubes" (whatever the hell they are, won't catch me with oily fingers) I started thinking about what chemicals you keep in the fan for gas work, cleaners, lubricants etc?
I.e. What do you find the best lubricant for a sticky fan?
Hi guys I have a combi swap to do at the weekend (for my landlord). He wants the cheapest of everything, what are the cheapest cleaning chemicals and inhibitor available and also will be using cheapest TRV's I can get. Any recommendations?

Who uses one? I'm thinking of using the Fernox water test kit during an annual service, how many tests does the kit last for? I've been doing a lot of research and it appears there is no universal test for checking inhibitor levels as different manufacturer's chemicals vary greatly. The other...
Just been having a look on eBay at cleaners and inhibitors.
Lots of stupidly cheap branded stuff for sale. Does anyone buy it this way?
Is it out of date or stolen?
thought i had a nice lucrative private job for sunday

Hi, glad to have found this problem.
I have an issue with our heating system. After a pressure issue was resolved, our engingeer suggested a power flush, which we did.
All fine for 2 months, now it has broken down - the heat exchanger is blocked and the magnetic filter has an inch of crap...

I usually use x800 or Hyperflush,
But I am unsure which is best,
When using Hyperflush it doesnt seem to work properly, reading up on it apparently, you should run central heating for an hour with chemicals in before flushing.
X800 is more expensive but seems to be the most effective, anybody...
Hi ,
Just wondering about the likes of Fernox F1/F3 etc - is it better to add to a system and let it run for a week or so and then powerflush or is it OK to just treat on the day of the flush. Don't fancy having to make a double trip every time
thanks

So ive seen toms tips on youtube and he flushes a heating system using the outside tap and a couple of hoses. I also know a plumber who prefers to just take the radiators off and give them a rince through outside. i was on work experience once when i witnessed a system being powerflushed but it...
Are these worth it or not in your opinion? They're around 2x the price of other central heating chemicals so I've never tried them. Do they make any difference?
hi just lookin a bita info from u power flushing guys .I just recently got a kamco cf90 and combimag and just startin out in power flushing wat chemicals is the best for flushing that can all be done in 1 day or wat chemicals u prefere to use that keeps the cost down and does the job well

Hi, another question on my new boiler. When the hot water tap is turned on, as soon as the hot water starts coming out there is a very strong chemically smell to the water (and it also tastes bad). The small lasts for about 10 seconds, then is not very noticeable. It does not smell of...
