Has anyone ever used fluorescent dye and UV torch to trace leaks in heating systems?

Any good?

Any reviews...?

What do you guys do if leak sealer doesn't work and there are no visible leaks from boiler of rads/valves..?

pipes in floor?

and thermal would be the best have a look at the flir one

This is mine, FLIR one I think, attaches to iPhone.
Pictures are leak from pipes in concrete floor.

Hot pipework is clearly defined where leakage occupies a larger area,
The copper was bleeding through, no hole just like a sponge.

Looks great.
However, I'm a little confused by the thermal image.
So I can see the pipe, clearly, which then disappears under the mass of heat which I would have thought was just heat from the pipe.
How did you know it was leaking there? (I know I'm being thick, sorry!)

There is somewhere a picture just outside the room, which shows the pipe again, from then on it was educated guesswork, luckily it was right.

So basically if that pipe wasn't leaking, there wouldn't have been that heat mass around the pipe like that?

there would have as not insulated and dont think it was leaking the way he said it also you will see the ground around a leak heating up i think

Follow pipe clearly defined then just heat

ahh ok.. might have a look at the iPhone flir then.. I had a guy on the kamco course say it was good too

You would clearly see the pipe with hot water, the FLIR one has a temperature point as well, bright yellow is the pipe, then a random mass of cooler hot water, which has bled from the copper shows where the leakage was. If you look at the last picture you can see the pipes separated by a large area, that's where the leak was

Just ordered the Flir One - how exciting :)

I've got the CAT S60 phone with a built in Flir camera and its awsome! Best phone i've ever had. So many uses for thermal imaging.

I have attached an image of the brass body within a tap. Having replaced a cartridge which has cured a leaking tap, I can see that there is a small leak from the brass body which can be unscrewed. Is there a seal behind the body? Thanks.

Every two weeks or so I have to go and top up the system because the hot taps are running cold. Boiler display is flashing 0.6 bar and I fill up to 1.3. I've had an engineer look inside the boiler and he can't see anything wrong. I've checked the pipes all over the house and cannot see any...

Hello, I am seeking some advice, I have a POTTERTON PROMAX 28 COMBI Boiler and I noticed yesterday that the water around the house is no longer warming up. The heat exchanger has been changed 6 months ago, so I do not believe it is that. Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? Thanks
