Hi All,
I just wanted to get some opinions on the long term prospects of a microbore system. I am personally in favour of them. I am very happy to instal a 'point to point' system with a nice manifold. As long as the system is sealed, filter, well inhibited and maintained, then it should be...
Friends, romans, countrymen Spartacus....
few things going on here. as per the title i have a central heating system running through 8mm microbore copper piping to old cast radiators using the completely redundant twin / dual entry radiator valves.
not ideal i know.
on the positive side the...
Hi all,
I need to replace a copper microbore manifold but can't find one to match.
Just moved to a 30 year old house, copper microbore c/h system. Bathroom radiator not working when moved in. Had boiler replaced, (failed its service), which included power flush but it didn't clear the radiator...
Hi all - I'm just about to start replacing some radiators in my house, the pipework is all 10mm plastic microbore (JG I believe) which comes up from the floor, not the walls. I thought I'd got everything set but as I'm changing one single to a double rad, I've overlooked the fact that the rad...
Hi everyone. I've started renovating our cloakroom and have decided to opt for a designer radiator (Milano Aruba - White Horizontal Designer Radiator 400mm x 415mm). The valves for this (Milano - Minimalist Chrome Angled Radiator Valves (Pair)) are for 15mm pipe but I've got 10mm microbore...
Hi All
I want to add a radiator to a microbore system; the supply and return pipes are all 22 mm feeding a mixture of 10 mm or 8 mm microbore which are taken directly from the ends of the 22 mm pipes. I plan to "T" into the 22 mm supply and return pipes with a run of "large bore" pipe before...
Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help. I am about to order a much wider but thinner and lower modern radiator as I have a relatively thin hallway and it would look much better. I just realised that I have microbore and also full concrete floor which pipe goes into under skirting so I won’t be able to...
Hi All,
I’m a plumber of 8 years in London and fitted many a heating system however I’ve never fitted one onto Microbore (don’t get much in London).
Need to fit a heat only on a S plan system. Just wondering if there are any specific things I should be looking out for? Currently the heating is...
Hi. I need to change a few TRVs on my radiators. Its a 10mm Microbore system. I'd like to be able to undo the nuts, take off the old one and fit the new one with the same nuts, in order to save time. Here is a photo of an old one. It looks like there is a reducer piece under the TRV rather...
Hello guys I will be changing a radiator to a wider one in width (going from 800mm wide double panel rad to 1400 mm wide single panel with fins).
The pipework for the current rad comes out of the wall at either side and is microbore and I think it's 10mm.
When the current rad is removed and...
Hi there ... I have a single radiator in a 4 bedroom house that won't heat up. In fact, it never heated up even when the house was newly built, but somehow got neglected and forgotten about.
I know that:
a) the radiator is not blocked,
b) the valves are open (they are not thermostatically...

Sorry for all the questions..
What's the best way to cap off 8mm microbore (out of sight), are there caps I can solder on? I assume I can do this with a normal propane torch and the correct solder?
I assume it's better to do this rather than use a compression valve in case I wish to reconnect...
Hi all,
Soon I plan to start replacing some radiators and they are currently all connected on an 8mm microbore system where both pipes go in the same end/valve.
I'm pretty sure that these valves are hard to get now, so it makes sense to change them before one of them breaks?
What would you...

Hello
21 year old house with microbore central heating ... new central heating pump, new 3 mid port valve, new Worcester Bosch Greenstar Ri 15kW boiler + Magnaclean + full powerflush all done 2 months ago. Out of 15 rads in 4 bedroom house, I would say 9 work near 100 % but in main bedroom...
We have a radiator in the living room that is cold at the bottom and only slightly better at the top . We've seen videos about a few things to try but we don't know how to turn the valve as we've never seen one like it before . Is there any chance someone can tell me what it is or how to turn...
Hi all, had a 'mare the other night, "just cutting off" 2 x f&r's to an old towel rail, couldn't get an 8mm fitting onto the pipe and a 10mm flapped around like a clowns hat! Managed to unsolder some scrap adaptors from the pipework (which unfortunately had no maker marks on them) and re-use as...
hi, for the past 6 years i have had problems with my gas central heating system, not heating the house well enough. it has microbore pipework (hate it!!) and we live in a very hard water area. the system is 16 years old and the boiler is an ideal ff250 and the house is approx 1570 sq feet. we...
Morning all
i fitted a new boiler last week and customer is complaining of no heating downstairs. Upstairs in 15 mm downstairs microbore.
I was thinking just a balancing issue. But have shut of all upstairs rads to force heat down stairs and no change. There is water at each flow and return...
I’ve never been too happy with the condensing Vaillant EcoMax Pro 28E that replaced our original cast iron boiler heating our vented microbore system. The house didn’t seem to get any warmer than before the changeover about 5 years ago, but I’ve been told everything was OK so I did nothing about...
Hi all,
Just quoting for a boiler replacement job. Was wondering how you guys go about cleaning a micro-bore system that has signs of existing corrosion in the radiators (3 of the 12 rads heating up at the top only). My thought was to take off all the rads, clean them out with mains pressure...
