isolator
An optical isolator, or optical diode, is an optical component which allows the transmission of light in only one direction. It is typically used to prevent unwanted feedback into an optical oscillator, such as a laser cavity.
The operation of [some of] the devices depends on the Faraday effect (which in turn is produced by magneto-optic effect), which is used in the main component, the Faraday rotator.
Does anyone know where I can get a DCV with an isolator that is WRAS approved?
I need one for an outside tap and have limited space so I could do with a combined item
thank you :)
Hi, some advice would be great. I have an Instinct Eco-Mag fitted and it has started to leak from the port that the magnetic tube is removed from (common issue i believe). I have seen a video on here showing a temporary fix by adding some O-rings. Problem I have is that when the boiler was...
Hi
I have always had a poor water delivery to my bathroom and en-suit basins. The cold is just about acceptable but the hot is pathetic coming from the tank on the same floor.
Both rooms have isolator valves fitted in the correct direction and then to flexi tails that just reduce the flow...
hi, I’m wondering, is this cable safe to be going around the very hot copper pipe as it is and is the white pipe okay pressed against the isolator switch? Gas engineer came to do it today. Just seems a bit risky to me so wanted to check I’m not going die if something leaks or gets too hot.
Hello, I was hoping someone here might be able to help. I need to replace an isolator valve on the inlet supply to a toilet. It's a 1/2" fitting - one end is connected to the water supply with a compression fitting, and the other end fits on to the thread of the toilet inlet valve. The problem...
Some uses of the Aladdin EasyFit Isolator:
As an emergency fitting, where the stop-cock is inaccessible or will not work.
As a convenience device in multi-occupancy buildings (e.g. hotels, shops and HMOs) where water supply to one area needs to be worked on without inconveniencing other...
I have an issue with what seems to be a self opening valve..
Had a plumber out today to look at a leak from a pipe in the bathroom.
He found the leak was from an old isolation valve so he's fitted a new one. The pipe its self is cut off, I believe it was connected to an old hot water tank...
Hi All,
I was trying to replace a failing fill valve in my cistern, I got the old one out no problem, adjusted the new one, popped it in - carefully hand-tightened the nut - and as per the instructions - let the water back in to check the seal. It leaks (sprays) from the bottom of the metal nut...
Hi I have a strange looking mains water isolator side my shop. I need to turn it off. Can someone shed some light on which tool I will require to do this.
I'm going to warn you that I am a complete idiot and I'm not a plumber.
I've changed a number of taps in my life but recently come up with an issue in changing a kitchen tap in my new house.
My pipes etc use the standard 15mm fittings as done the tap that was originally installed. I bought...
Hi all, newbie (DIYer) here. Would like to hear from anyone who has had any problem after using the Aladdin easy fix isolator please.
I'm in a bit of a fix with a broken bathroom basin tap with no means of turning the cold feed off. The internal stopcock is stuck and I'm reluctant to force it as...
Brought an Aladdin easy fit isolator for a job rather than drain down the house just to remove the toilet pan but it weighs 13oz / 360gms which seems a lot of weight to put on the copper cistern feed pipe and the only place it can go is right up close to the fill valve plastic stem connection so...
Hi all
I'm new to plumbing and I want to install some isolator valves for a couple of taps in a house I've just moved into.
I've seen just about every video on the Web on how to use compression joints and that all seems pretty straight forward.
The problem is this. ...
The taps are...

Hi,
We have recently had a Valliant ecoTec pro installed. Over Christmas, a couple of the hot water taps are dripping, so I need to change the washers or may well put new taps on.
Please could someone let me know how I turn off the water to the hot water taps to let me change the washers. Is...

Hi,
I noticed the isolator in the Red box in this photo is leaking at the top nut (sorry about the blurred view). This isolator is after the water meter on the cold water mains inlet to my flat. I was hoping a simple tightening of the nut in the Yellow box would suffice but now I am not so...
I was just looking at the price list from Williams and saw the Aladin easyfit isolator. As an emergency plumber it seems the answer to my prayers. Has anyone used one? How does it work?
The twist pin part on the gate valve on my mums central heating pump is dripping water :/, would this be a BG call out or can I replace the valve or something ?

Aladdin EasyFit Isolator Review
Newly renovated house with no isolation valves anywhere, and I mean anywhere. stopcock in the street was freshly tarmaced over as were the rest of the houses on the block, the supply came in directly under the front door-step and ran under the boards and...
Please see this youtube video for a demonstration of the Aladdin Easifit isolator, or visit their website here.
Its a 15mm lever valve that you can fit to a live pipe, without draining, freezing, bunging or soaking yourself in water. Ideal for namby-pamby plumbers who don't fancy doing a cold...
