Hi, hope you can shed some light on this mystery. My mother has recently had a new combi boiler installed, since it has been in she can hear a constant dripping noise coming from the inside of the walls. The installer came back out but he said there was nothing visibly wrong with it, and he was unable to hear the dripping (you can hear it clearer during the night). Not sure what to do next, hope you can help.
Thanks

not sure about dripping inside the walls??what pipework was replaced and is boiler holding its pressure
if its holding pressure then the only other pipes external to boiler are cold in hot out and pressure relief valve

Oh what i meant was the dripping sounds are from the pipes (just sounds like it's inside the walls!!) Yes the boiler is holding it's pressure.

This could be the noise of pipes expanding and movement when getting hot/cold particulary from a combi as the hot is taken grom mains pressure and heated as it is used. I think it would be more of a ticking noise.

as above, but could also be an airlock in the pipework. try having a good bleed.

Yes, I was called to a similar job recently, they could hear 'dripping' from inside a stud wall above a radiator. All it was was the pipes expaning against the wood.

It's possible, is anything that can be done or is it just something you have to put up with and buy some earplugs!

jane you really need someone to come and listen who knows the difference between dripping and pipes expanding and air

Yes already done that, couldn't hear anything unusual. Will try again though. Thanks for your help.
