Over the years never get much work via corgi or gas safe site, any calls mostly time wasters, think I got one cooker last year but over last few months have had 4 jobs directly were customers have got me from the gas safe site, via post code, decent small jobs as as well, did a pump change yesterday
Has any one else found an increase of work through Gas Safe site ?

Similar to you.Last year got one hob to do.Since I re-registered this year have had a few services and a boiler change out of it.

Happy days:D:D

2 jobs in 12 years with corgi,2 years gs ,that i know came from there websites!

Nothing... ever, Id like to remove my number from the site as all I get is calls from yellow pages etc trying to get me to advertise with them ect.

Know what you mean mean Blackcat.

I have had in the last week 6 emails from local merchants/parts suppliers all offering me special discounts etc.I know they got my details from the GS site, as you can see who they have sent the emails to, must be 50 businesses at least.

Also had the YP calls:mad:

Funny thing. Advertising a lot of the time does not seem to do much really. Its word of mouth that perhaps seems to do the most or going out and making personal contacts.

I think part of the problems is that people today get bombarded from all over the place from advertising in some form or other. So they tend to ignore it.

I know if you cold call the likes of housing and tenants associations its possible to get yourself at least known and may be some work.

But then its all time. And the operative is usually to busy working and estimating to do much networking.

So its complicated. But it maybe worth putting aside one or two nights a month to go out and socialise at the various local clubs.

Get a good name for price and quality and then you may find your problem becomes, not getting work, but doing it all.

Ask yourself "Why do I buy from the merchant I do?" The same applies to your business. If they sell you good stuff and give good service. Then you perhaps have a clue as to what you should do.

The UK white goods industry seems a bit frightened of a US company who have bought into some Talk Talk shops to sell white goods. But all they seem to do is sell at a reasonable price and give excellent service. I don't think they are spectacularly cheaper than other stores its just their service is said to be so good.

The clues for how to make people's own companies prosper are possibly obvious.

Treat customers like you would like to be treated then you get a clue of how to go about things.

I say 'engineers' but is that actually true in the strictest sense of the word? I guess that depends on how you interpret the work of a Plumber but it's by the by. I'll put a disclaimer in here so as to not confuse some. I am not attempting a repair of my own, I am not a DiY enthusiast where...

After being shot down twice yesterday, thread closed twice, hence this new one (Croppie, please have a little patients!). Not every non-GSR on here is a have-a-go-cowboy looking to blow themselves up. Neither am I interested in the slightest in breaking the law - or putting me or my family at...
