Currently having some work done to my exterior walls and will also be doing my kitchen.

My mains feed comes into my house in blue pipe about 1 metre away from the wall behind my kitchen tap.

I want to move this right near the corner as I want to move my tap/sink when doing my kitchen.

My builder says this is no problem - he can drill away the floor, extend the blue pipe and put it elsewhere.

I am dubious about using connections for something so important but he says it is no problem.

The copper pipe connects to the stopcock as soon as it comes into the house - does the stopcock have to start there or can the blue pipe actually come into the kitchen?

I am thinking I should get a plumber in.

Anyone have thoughts or advice on this?

Plumber or builder to do plumbing work..........
hmmmmm

now let me think about that one....

I assume the builder is fully conversant with the water regulations regarding the necessity of providing insulation should the cold main rise up too close to the exterior wall etc. Who'll be notifying the water undertaking of the work to incoming cold main and arranging for the inspection before it is buried?

Prob not!

fair point actually - even if he does nothing to the pipe the wall around it is changing so not sure if it will be sufficiently protected - should be.

easier option is just to leave it where it is and just copper tube the main stopcock 30cms to the left - or does the stopcock literally have to be on the end of the blue pipe?

No reason you can't do that, as long as the stop tap is before the first draw off.
