Knocking out tap hole on ceramic sink

If it's semi cut already. Tap it out from the top with a nail punch. Frightening experience! Don't be shy with it.

I've done one, it was squeaky bum time lol, came out fine in the end. I just pay the extra now and have them do it. cust pays in the end anyway.

I use a tile drill in a circle then knock out what's left

Customer is supplying it so didn't know until the kitchen fitter phoned me today.

check underneath, it should be already cut part way through

Get the customer to sign a letter, stating its their responsibility if it breaks. Otherwise, let someone else do it.
On a brighter note, I've done a few now and never had a problem.

Just drill the stupid thing out with a diamond drill, I'm not taking a hammer and chisel to a £200 + sink. Manufacturers think they are saving us time but will they buy me a new sink if it cracks?

I hate getting people to sign stuff, its like saying I don't trust you. Never had to ask yet.

They tap out easily with a nail pinch. Sinks are made of fireclay not porcelain so they are not fragile. If it is an inset sink sit it in position to support it.

I did a Franke sink and hit it as hard as i dare with a centre punch and then I hit it again harder and it didn't budge or even sound right so I drilled it.

Ensure colour sticker is in the centre of the pre-formed tap-hole.

Follow the descriptive line drawings shown on template or:

Take the sink out of the box and rest the sink vertically against your legs with the face of the sink facing outwards, ensuring that the tap-hole is for the correct hand-drainer. Take care not to damage the edge of the sink in the process.
Take a centre-punch and place on the centre of the colour sticker.
Strike the punch hard with a hammer. This will result in the core of the tap-hole being knocked out. Finish off, using the ball of the hammer and a round file.

Yeah 1 hard hit and the back popped off then tidied up the hole. It was against everything I have been taught though taking a hammer to a sink lol.
