In production, research, retail, and accounting, a cost is the value of money that has been used up to produce something or deliver a service, and hence is not available for use anymore. In business, the cost may be one of acquisition, in which case the amount of money expended to acquire it is counted as cost. In this case, money is the input that is gone in order to acquire the thing. This acquisition cost may be the sum of the cost of production as incurred by the original producer, and further costs of transaction as incurred by the acquirer over and above the price paid to the producer. Usually, the price also includes a mark-up for profit over the cost of production.
More generalized in the field of economics, cost is a metric that is totaling up as a result of a process or as a differential for the result of a decision. Hence cost is the metric used in the standard modeling paradigm applied to economic processes.
Costs (pl.) are often further described based on their timing or their applicability.
I recently posted a thread about an extractor fan for a downstairs toilet and received lots of help so many thanks to all who helped.
In the same property in the upstairs bathroom is another non functioning fan. It is a Vectaire A 10/4 AT: the one with the built in shutters.

Hi,
We're having an extension done at the moment and our contract with our builder covers the cost to relocate our existing boiler in to our new utility room.
After builder had boiler inspected, it turns out we can't move the boiler because it's "illegal" as too old to be made safe. As a...
I need to add a two port valve to an existing system. As part of this job I need to add a few compression fittings.
Wanted to ask those more experienced is it worthwhile buying (as an example) a Prestex (Pegler) 28mm equal T for £12.80 vs cheaper non-brand at £8.05? Is there real any...
Hi everyone,

I always have been hardworking and open to learn new skills but once I came to England I’ve stopped investing in myself. Don’t know really why but 3 years I doing something what I actually hate...

Lost this job to an unregistered installer. I know who fitted it but you can imagine the stuff you cant see when the condense run on full view is that bad on the outside of the house
I am thinking of putting together a system from a roof panel to a second coil in the cylinder but all the bits in the BES book are way more than ordinary fittings. As the solar liquid is chemically stabilised surely ordinary fittings and pipe will be ok. Or am I missing something here ?
As in the above question really. A forum member recently asked if we should be fitting duty and standby for vulnerable customers.
What I'd like to ask is what costs would this add to the job. Is it a case of extra boiler cost plus a couple of extra pipes (say £1000 in typical domestic...
I don't want to take out wall/tiles: Is it possible to purchase a replacement shower of the same type of design with a less expensive brand(parts are ridiculously expensive from Triton)

I have glow worm 24c combi boiler. The hot water flow rate is next to nothing, at all outlets. Mains water pressure is good. One other problem was the rads getting hot when hot water only.
Thinking this must be caused by the diverter valve not working correctly and that the dhw heat...

Just sharing....
after 15 years of servicing the same boiler every year after giving a quote to replace it we received this email:
Amazing! Can you believe it!
--- I know you can - you get the same thing.
After sleeping on it I sent this reply:
South East. Non-gas plumbing.
I ask because I don't want to cross that line but I'd like to have my toes on it whenever humanly possible.
Also do you factor in materials/parts mark up when deciding on a day rate or is that a separate Brucey boner?
Thanks.
