My old Samsung galaxy S2 drains all replacement batterys dead in 9 - 10 hours, the screen is cracked and the camera lens is scratched so badly I have to lick the lens to get anywhere near a clear picture. I think the cost of repair will outweigh a new handset.

I'm currently being shafted about £25 a month from EE my being on the wrong tariff (signed up to £16.99/month 250mb 500 mins)

I can upgrade early starting this weekend, so before I go into the EE store tomorrow, drop my trousers and bend over a desk I need to do my homework before I'm shafted again, they are all Robin Barestewards.

I want an S5 but will it be cheaper to buy outright and go sim only or go to Carphone Whorehouse (also liars) and get an S5 for £25/month??

Not interested in iphones.

none of the gif gaf unlimited internet plans allow you to tether so if you use a tablet on wireless they are not so good we took the grandson out recently and he was using my phone to use his ipad online

I have never and will never buy an apple product.
Samdung have well documented software update issues. I have such an isdue on my s4 plus its too delicate for trade work. So I started.looking at tough phones. Girst loomed at jcb but the cat ones have a spec that is as good as most smartphones do I think im gonna get one.

After spending ages on the phone to EE on Friday they said I needed to go into store face to face to end my contract and they cannot do it over the phone. Went into EE yesterday and they guy said you'll have to ring up and do this on the phone we can't do this in store.

I hate EE and can't wait to get shut, but to be honest they are all the same.

Ive had same crap with virgin which uses ee network. My galaxy phone wont last till end of october as its pretty much knackered now and they wont let me upgrade early so im planning on grttimg the cat phone from an online supplier and getting a sim only contract

Exactly the same here, but I have to wait until Sep 29th to upgrade after being told it was this weekend. Every call I make its a different story and a different price.

That CAT phone....is it US spec?

Uk spec. Standard android like a samsung

Its a decent looking phone with a pretty good spec. The fact that you can use it with wet fingers and drop it in the cwsc or a bag of plaster without damage and also drop from 6feet onto concrete without a case means it is practically the perfect phone for plumbers.

I dont know anyone who has one do I have to rrly on internet reviews but it seems like the best choice for me. Cheaper than a samsung as well.

Can get it for 20 a month if contract is your thing

CAT phone looks good but by the sound of reviews it doesn't do what it says on the tin
Screen and parts break easily
The cat is 300quid - Would it not be as well to fit one of those shock protectors for a fiver.

Where have you seen the reviews? The ones I looked at seem good.

The camera on the CAT seems to be the downside, its an 8mp which I have on my S2 but I want a step up and hear the S5 boasts a decent camera.

I've dropped my S2 many times in carparks etc and battery has flow out and everything but its always turned back on.

There is an s5 active which is water dust and shockproof that gets good reviews. Just been looking at them. Samsung have massive software problems at the moment though so im looking gor something else I think.

The sony z3+ is water and dust proof but not shock proof so would require a good case. That has a 21 mega pixel camera as well.

Choosing a phone is a bleeding minefield. Scratch the surface and look into user reviews and they are all crap....

I just want one that is water proof and will still be working at the end of the contract

I notice Simon G has a work and a personal phone....I only have one for business and personal. Couldn't see myself worrying about carrying two phones around.

S5 active? didn't know they exist...will look into those.

300odd quid is a lot of money to lay out if the thing doesn't provide more than the other phones you can get on contract.
Never had insurance myself but why not pay for that and then it doesn't matter how many times you break it.
Are those shock type cases any good
Whats so good about giffgaff

Dunno about giff gaff. Mobile phone I surance usually comes with a seventy quid excess though. And the pjones usually have a 2yr warranty which is the same length as a contract but wife and I have had problems with our s4 's they been sent back waited two weeks without phones to be told without a reason given that the warranty wouldnt cover the faults. So had to claim on insurance and pay seventy quid. Its all a big con. All I want is a phone that will ladt two years. Is that really too much to ask considering how much we pay for the buggers.

Yeah I know what you mean. I remember now having the S3 when it first came out. I bet it was with carphone warehouse for at least 8weeks in the first year - no compensation, no replacement. Puts you off.
Just get a cheap phone and run it till its knackered. The Mini was only 80quid, had it 11months. I'll probably get a new one next year

What phone did you get in the end Kay jay?

I got an S5 the other week, price in carphone whorehouse dropped to £299 from £369 so a no brainer really.

Its a really good phone.

I find the little door at the bottom keeps opening then you get a pop up telling you to close it ! Anyone else find this?

It only appears when I unplug the charging lead.

The phone and an insane amount of smileys but when I use them my girlfriend just gets them as squares on her screen. I want my smileys back from my old S2.

There`s probably an app for that but girlfriend getting squares doesn`t sound right.

is an S6 really better than an S5, is that the one with a curved screen?
They do two. An edge and a curve.

I havent got round to getting a phone yet. Havent had the time.
Screen is cravked now and noone can hear me so I have to shout lol
