Hi all

Purchased Hilmor GLM pipe bender a few months ago and used it a few times, just lately I have noticed that when I use machine to bend 15mm copper tube, the tube comes out slightly squashed and mis-shapen with distinctive ridges around edge and the back of the 15mm roller is rubbing against the inside of the 22mm former, i know that throating is where the roller or guide is too loose but i sem to have the opposite problem, I have checked all the bolts and they seem to be tight and the rollers are oiled and spin round..... what can i do to loosen it up.

tbh mark have never had this issue current bender (hilmor glm) 15 year old never any probs and recon hilmor glm year old doing as it should

I used a spray of LDF on the guides and former for few days until they loosened up a bit. Worked for me.

i've neverhad any problems either Mark, seems strange are there any slight dents on the formers that could be causing this?

crap tube nowadays often causes this problem of corrugation on the bend

Hmm!

Some pipe makes for lovely rippling along the back of the bend.

I wonder why people have not really made hand benders with adjustable guide roller pressures yet?
