Hi All,

I have a request from a client to move a stopcock from its current position into a small loft directly above where it currently is. They want to plaster over the wall and put a radiator directly over it. My question is even though the stopcock is in a new position am i ok to put some form of lead lock over the current pipe/stopcock and get this plastered over or because i would be using a compression fitting do i have to allow access to this area? Also what is the best fitting for this requirement.

thanks

You dont have too much choice but use a leadlock really.

instead of plastering it in could you not leave a small access panel in the plaster?

Can you not take the lead back to somewhere atleast accessible?
Or at least not going to be plastered in.
Into the floor maybe?

I prefer a Philmac fitting than a leadlock fitting :S Those go in the ground and dont need access etc

All you can do is advise the customer to leave access, up to them if they still want to plaster it afterwards.

i wouldnt worry if they decide to plaster over it its then their problem once there on and tested ive not had much trouble with lead locks just make sure its clipped in place well

Hi all. Hope you have all been keeping well. A while back I decided I only wanted to fit one brand of boiler and decided on Viessmann due to space for servicing and changing parts if ever needing to. I am finding my decision rather hard due to the different clearances on flue runs and cupboards...

I was stupid enough not to check the position of the pipes under the tiles when installing a toilet and drilled right through the center of a 16 mm copper water pipe. I exposed the pipe by removing a ~30cm section of the plastic sleeve and a ~10 cm section of the pipe around the hole. Several...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

We run a community village hall and have a large kitchen provided for the use of hirers. This includes a Lincat SLR9 gas cooker which I believe is a 23.8Kw appliance with all six burners and oven on max. This was installed some 10 years ago and has passed all subsequent Gas Safety inspections as...
