So they do technically own it. Even if the company is offshore?

Of course they do not own it !
The trust or family or like you say company owns it they do not pay tax and it is not part of their estate !
some even have their own banks !

I have several adresses I use for post and you are right I am not on electoral roll .

Basil do you really live in a tent? My one and only dream in this life is to own my house. Something to leave my boys so they can have it a bit easier

Not quite a tent a bit posher than that but you are close !
I do not use campsites and yes I have heating and a shower etc .
The idea of leaving a house is great but my plans went wrong and my house was lost in a divorce due to my thinking I was being clever and putting in ex wifes name to avoid death duty so kids got it .
Ex went bankrupt on day of divorce hearing !
Mothers house that she always wanted us to have will now be in hands of council as she would not either sign over to us or do a power of attorney so now lost that too !
Most of my friends parents have handed their houses over to kids years ago as many of them owned several houses !
Your house really is a fund for the local authority unless you sort it years before
We all think it cannot happen to us but it can and had I not stepped in mother would be sitting in a home right now wearing nappies as they told us she was incontinent after 2 days in a care home to recover from a fall !
Sad thing getting old and even sadder as all she wants is to die as she knows her home is going to go to the day I cannot deal with her any longer !

What do you do with the rubbish you create?

Who keeps the roads clear for you?

Who collets the litter in your area?

Do your children go to private school?

Or do you pay council tax?

My rubish is minimal but what I do have normally friends or mothers bin !
Other times rubbish is burnt or in a bin of the pub or business i am a customer of and yes i ask as i do for water .
No I do not pay council tax and I always liked poll tax as it was so much fairer .
I am an unpaid carer and save our local authority a fortune so do not have any problems with that .
What I cost the state is mothing it is mates of mine who are millionaire business owners who run boats and aeroplanes with all expenses paid for by their business that cost !
One even paid himself minimum wage so his CSA payments went from over ÂŁ200 a week to ÂŁ6.80 a week !

Sounds like off the grid and out of rat race! Well done!!

If your in a house become tenants in common and set up wills it's pretty difficult as it's all trusted to your kids and if one dies or goes into care it's very difficult to move or re arrange assets by force.

Tennants in common is for a house u own not one u rent!

Not jealous at all
I am just pointing out that Mr and Mrs average foot the bill for their toys they pay no tax on their toys and claim expenses to run them !
Scum is a bit harsh I prefer freeloader !
Just because I choose to do as I want quite legally this is the typical reaction from those who are trapped in their nasty little boxes living next to nasty minded neighbours who all strive to be something they will never be !
I have paid more tax in my lifetime than most ever will and have created employment so am not going to lose any sleep !
