Hands! all over your job that aren't yours, I went to fit a new washing machine this morning (Sat) for an oldish friendly customer of mine, she always interferes and I knew it would definately not be easy, Currys have walked away as it was hard wired and I was fitting a single socket under the unit .....
Phil, I now do the hard wired washing machines by cutting the old machines cable about a foot or so below the worktop and fit a decent trailing socket. Just then need to use the new plug instead of having to cut it off and wire directly each time. (Usually the "old" machine is fairly new and its cable will be brand new condition)
It saves any bother for the future as any repair person or plumber can unplug the machine.
