Copper or Plastic

I have an old section of 22mm copper pipe on the return side from the rads to the boiler thats reduced in size due to the buildup of iron down its entire length, is it posable to replace this for plastic as its difficult to do in copper again? If so what is the minimum distance from the boiler I can run it and what is the best pipe to use, i.e. Speedfit, Polyplum to name two.

Just for information the boiler is being replaced with a combo and a magaclean will be installed.

Put some chemicals into the system for 3-4 weeks before the installation, run heating the whole time and ensure gas engineer flushes the system, job done.
The magnaclean will catch whatever the flush doesn't.

Unfortunately some pipe work has been removed for plastering walls before the new boiler goes in, so not possible to clean with chemicals this side of the new boiler.
