intake
An intake (also inlet) is an opening, structure or system through which a fluid is admitted to a space or machine as a consequence of a pressure differential between the outside and the inside. The pressure difference may be generated on the inside by a mechanism, or on the outside by ram pressure or hydrostatic pressure. Flow rate through the intake depends on pressure difference, fluid properties, and intake geometry.
Intake refers to an opening, or area, together with its defining edge profile which has an associated entry loss, that captures pipe flow from a reservoir or storage tank. Intake refers to the capture area definition and attached ducting to an aircraft gas turbine engine or ramjet engine and, as such, an intake is followed by a compressor or combustion chamber. It may instead be referred to as a diffuser. For an automobile engine the components through which the air flows to the engine cylinders, are collectively known as an intake system and may include the inlet port and valve. An intake for a hydroelectric power plant is the capture area in a reservoir which feeds a pressure pipe, or penstock, or into an open canal.
I have a Remeha Tzerra M 24c Plus boiler. It is sitting nice and tight, next to the central ventilation unit/pipeline of the apartment block. That central unit is rather big, I assume around 50cmx50cm and at least 20m tall. So the exhaust ventilation pipe of the boiler goes directly out to this...
Where can I get either a new sponge filter or complete cover that sits over the impeller fan the rubber filter has perished, or is it an acoustic barrier, either way its gone
I just bought a dish washer but I'm having trouble connecting the standard 3/4" inlet hose that came with it. As can be seen in this video:

It almost fits the installed faucet. The gap seems to be less than 1mm. The house was built in 1986, so I...
I know some boiler manufactors allow the flues air in-take to exit as close as 150mm to an opening in a building. As long as you put a plume kit to get the products of combustion at lest 300mm away from the opening. Does anyone know which manufacturers allow this? I usually fit Ideals but as far...
Problem with air heard in some radiators when pump starts up and then in Bermuda back boiler when pump stops (water settling noise).
Y Plan open vent system with 7 radiators controlled by TRVs and another radiator in hall which acts as a bypass (wall thermostat is located here).
System...
Good evening everyone!
I am struggling with this countertop dishwasher I bought secondhand to help my husband, who is my full time carer.
It’s an older model, 10 years apparently, and I was mislead when buying as the intake hose wasn’t supplied. When I looked on the Bosch spares website the...
My neighbours flue is installed on my property & is dripping condensate from both the exhaust and air intake whenever boiler operating. The exhaust has kit fitted and is one metre above air intake so the drips are from different locations but both check out as acidic (i.e. products of...
Where a gas hob is installed in a room with no direct door or window connection to the outside a clean air intake must be provided. This is well documented elsewhere including the cross sectional area, sleeving, etc.
My question is where can that intake be positioned? Is there a minimum...
