Would you do literally everything? So drain fully drain central heatings system and drain the cylinder too? Or would you just do loft tanks and turn off mains, open taps? Thanks

Hi, I removed and replaced a small section of copper pipe with a new section as it had a leaking soldered joint. It was under the kitchen sink, about 300mm max, with a few tee's on it that were splitting off to feed washing machine, kitchen mixer, and off to supply other parts of house. The...

Only posting this in the private forums as it's not very interesting to the general public... My brother called me today in a panic as he was knee deep in a cellar with water bleeding out the walls and seeping from the floor. Said cellar is about 14' below ground level and the water is fresh...

On googling it seems this is not sediment, just c02. It turns clear within a few seconds on standing still. Also "more apparent in hard water areas and from models with perhaps slower and/or lower flow rates." Check and check. What I want to know is why it only started recently? It also started...

Hi guys. Am I right I’m thinking that cloudy/murky water on an open vent system could be a possible split coil? Potential back flow if no check valves are fitted via mixer taps/showers? It’s the same on hot and cold side. Cheers

Probably done about 5 small guttering/downpipe repairs in over a decade. Usually just work out what bits I need from what's already there. But on this one she's not sure any of it is right to begin with. The hopper is meant to collect run off from guttering and divert to a water butt. But it...

I have a job with some extreme water hammer. When originally at the job, you opened a hot tap anywhere in the property and the hot side of the bath tap was physically jumping up and down. New bath taps were fitted. Noise then moved to the kitchen tap and that hot cartridge started jumping...

What do you guys recommend in terms of electric water heaters. I am doing a fit out in an office/games room someone is building in their garden. The hot water will supply the basin in a cloakroom and also a sink in a bar area. It needs to be sited at high level in a cupboard a couple of meters...

Hi all, What method do you use to measure volume of water in a largish heating system? For 2 reasons: Additional expansion vessel size. Correct dosage of inhibitor. I was thinking of some kind of inline meter that could be attached to the filling loop?? Any advice appreciated. Cheers Jim

I have been asked to fit a Marco water boiler, it has a 3/4” bsp for the inlet but no hose with it(2nd hand). Do I need a posh food grade hose £15, or can I use a washing machine one £2 for WRAS approved.

Made the mistake of agreeing to fit a 2nd hand cylinder for a family friend that is broke at the moment and it's just been one hassle after another. It's a fortic f1 direct combination cylinder that he managed to get his hands on, looks in decent condition if a bit old. The hot water draw off...

What happened to the 'Hall of Shame'? Is it still around? Anyway this is one of the best I've seen, even better than that rad going up the stairs which you'll all remember.

Unvented cylinder supplies hot water. Customer has two pedestal basins, both two holes, with separate hot and cold taps. One is tiny, with 135mm tap centres, the other standard and - i think - but got distracted chatting about stuff and even though I measured I am no longer certain of my...

A friend of mines f+e tank is constantly dripping even when the boiler is off so the pump isn't running. Before contacting me he has already changed the ball valve, which didn't stop it and isolated the mains to the f+e tank but it was still constantly dripping. I have told him to isolate...
