Ray Stafford

We are pleased to announce the birth of our Hastings branch - weighing in at 3600 square feet.

We completed the deal on 10 - 12 Armstrong close yesterday, after a mammoth 5 months of legal labour, and a legal bill to match. <ouch>

Much thanks due to a certain bearded, landie/icecream van driving/dog training forum member for his help in finding it. Fortunately I have this pic without him or his icecream truck in the frame:

There is quite a lot of demolition and rebuild to do on this one, so probably 8 - 9 weeks to fit out, estimated opening date in late July.

The branch manager will be "Wild Bill" Dawson, ably supported by Sophie (Mrs Wild Bill) - Bill formerly ran our Southampton branch, but fancied relocating to sunny sussex.

Next week we are looking at a building in Ashford in Kent, so I hope to have more news on that soon.

Well done Ray, still not close enough for me yet :) How's the ecommerce site going?

Thanks Simon

The ecommerce site is going slowly, although distance sales via the forum, twitter and just word of mouth around the country are going better than I expected. But don't tell Dan, or he might want to re-negotiate the sponsorship. :)

In fact, posting this thread was displacement activity when I should have been working on the ecommerce! <hangs head in shame>

Today Hasting, tomorrow the world, a Ray, well OK this time next year any road, onward & upwards.
Mike will be please.
Good Luck Ray. BTW is it a boy or a girl ?

Congrats Ray, you fellas will be getting a bigger tax bill than Amazon at this rate!

That looks as if its behind the fiat/ nissan garage.....near pts

It is, just along the road from South Coast Roofing and Omnico. Great news.

Well done Ray & Co onwards and upwards.."this time next year we'll be millionaire's" sound familiar ?..lol regards turnpin:54:

never mind the boring stuff ray,
where is the pic of the 'ice cream' van?

I thought he'd left the handbrake off for a sec there.

Hastings opening next Monday, 5th August. The tape to be cut by the forum's very own resident plumbing guru, poo-specialist, dog-trainer and ice-cream salesman - Mike "the bearded wonder" Jackson!

Here's what it looked like before:

The tradecounter is still looking a bit bare:

But at least the coffee machine has been delivered!

I don't know whether I will be able to make it or not, but if you are in the area, please come in and meet Bill, Sophie and the rest of the team.

Ray

I'll take my camera along and get someone to take some piccies of me and get a few inside the branch.

Had to use Eastbourne branch when working in Bexhill, but they were just as accommodating as every other branch we have used. You must either pay your boys well or they are all on drugs as i havn't found a grumpy branch yet.......still lookin though.

Thanks Mike!

I see that Bill has gone for the (relatively) clean-shaven look. I thought he might be challenging you for the "hairiest-bloke-in-hastings" title! :)

Well done to all the team that worked to get the branch open on time.

Next stop - Ashford.

Mike always reminds me of a hostage that's just been released after several months. Like Terry Waite only better fed...

I often wonder if he really has a chin under that beard.

Or another fist to hit unlicensed waste carriers!
