Just been to look at Potterton Prima that’s not lightning. Boiler goes through ignition sequence but there’s no gas coming through the valve to light the pilot. There’s 240v on the white wire going to the gas valve but nothing on the black. I presume there should be 240v on the black as well. If there’s no 240v does the pcb need replacing? Thanks for any help

how many wires to the gas valve?

how many wires to the gas valve?
There’s 2 solenoids on the gas valve. The one on the left with the black wire has no voltage going to it. The one on the right with the white wire has 240v

should be a pilot light due to two solenoids

Check the resistance of the coil- remove the wires first -if it’s open circuit you can change coil I think on these .
I took a wire off the white lead which has 240v on it and jumpered it onto the black wire to see if the solenoid would open and it opens ok as you can hear it and smell the gas coming through so I think the solenoid is ok, it’s just there doesn’t seem to be 240v going to it to fire it. I’m wondering if the pcb is the problem if it’s not sending out the 240v

Cannot remember this boiler. (Brain freeze) is this thenone woth the electrical plug on the front so you can plug the gas valve into to see if it opens?
No there’s no plug but I took a wire off the white lead which has 240v on it and jumpered it onto the black wire to see if the solenoid would open and it opens ok as you can hear it and smell the gas coming through so I think the solenoid is ok, it’s just there doesn’t seem to be 240v going to it to fire it. We are from Alberta, and I own an electrical company. I have been asked by a BC Mechanical P. Eng. to install an emergency STOP button at the man-door to the boiler room. It's intent is to 'halt' the operation of the boilers in the room should there be an emergency. He is demanding that I do...
