Been asked to make a towel rail out of copper. Having a blank moment, how do I make sure it circulates round all the rails equally.

you should place restrictions at each branch of the rail, either by drilling smaller holes than the inner size of the rails in the main risers, before welding rails,or if doing in copper, insert reducing discs into tees before fitting pipe rail into fitting
what size pipework are you using for rail,if around 22mm,maybe use 8mm holes
basically you are wanting to push to water around the rail by restricting flow to lower rails

£40 from B&Q. I'm all for making things instead of buying them, just for the sake of it, but come on Pal, it'll cost you twice as much in copper fittings, bleed vent, iron adapters for the valves, you'll need some way of fixing it to the wall too.
You've got to draw the line somewhere!

As as for making it circulate equally, I once made one from 50mm box section, with 40mm box section 'rungs'. I didn't restrict it at all, just left the entire thing open full bore. It worked perfectly until I changed the bathroom round. Then I got a proper one but filled the other with engine oil and put a towel rad element in it! It lasted another 5 years.

Ignore all above except about restrictions. Make it out of copper, munsens, will be work of art. The only thing I would be concerned about would be wall thickness of tube

Munsens? No way! It'll look much nicer with half a dozen anti-vibes on a couple of vertical uni struts. How about a two port valve and a room stat to control it too, now that's the future!

What cc was it...had a 250 once...the water raced round it!!

Yeah doing it out of 22mm copper with Yorkshire fittings. All going to be shined up and varnished, with 22mm munsons as fixings. 1/2"-22mm female irons for the vent and valves. Will post a pic when done.

One question
WHY

Because my missus has asked to make one for the new ensuite as she doesn't like chrome ones.
Why not really. Better than watching the carp on TV.

Hi, basic question, any insight much appreciated. Looking to have an outdoor tap in my front porch fed from 15mm pex coming up from suspended floor. Pic 1 is inside porch, pex temporarily clipped to give an idea of pipe placement (ignore shoddy blockwork of booted cowboy builder!), Pic 2 is...

Copper pipes, I think its fair to say, is not what it used to be, the copper is getting thin while the cost is going up. Meanwhile, plastic Pushfit seems to be getting better and better, cost and convenience was always better, but now the quality is to, have we reached a stage where plastic will...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
