REDSAW

just priced up a job to replace a w.c l/l system and some other work.

the outlet is lead at ground level (on floor boards runs 10'' on floor).exiting with 90 elbow 2' into stack.

i forgot to measure the width of the pipe in w.c and think its 3 1/2''.
does this sound right, as i need to get the stuff before i go to fit as the location is miles from merchant and being tight i dont want to buy more than one fitting in stock.

secondly, i am thinking of using a jollyflex by pulling the lead pipe up slightly from the floor for collar clearance to save costs on renewing the soil pipe to stack.

anyone have opinion, details and a link for the jollies. and do they do 3/ or 3 1/2''

thanx.

I do have an opinion but it's not a sensible one!! Rather you than me with this job - best of British!!

not too sure about the one from toolstation , I bought one from local merchants a while ago specifically for a 3 and a half inch which you can cut some of the fins off to fit as you see fit worked a treat into old cast iron.

I always use the Mac Alpine ones although they are a bit less flexible. For Lead usually 3 1/2 inch and cut away as much lead as I can, if tight just get a hammer and gently boss the lead out to the right size works every time.

Copper pipes, I think its fair to say, is not what it used to be, the copper is getting thin while the cost is going up. Meanwhile, plastic Pushfit seems to be getting better and better, cost and convenience was always better, but now the quality is to, have we reached a stage where plastic will...

I was stupid enough not to check the position of the pipes under the tiles when installing a toilet and drilled right through the center of a 16 mm copper water pipe. I exposed the pipe by removing a ~30cm section of the plastic sleeve and a ~10 cm section of the pipe around the hole. Several...
