Hi,

I have just moved into a new house and have been given a slightly
bashed but useable Whirlpool AWM1403 washing machine as a temporary measure. I
notice it has both a hot and cold fill inlet but my house only has a cold fill
pipe for washing machines to use.

Can I still install the washing
machine? Will it still heat the water? and finally how do I install it given
both the hot and cold fill inlets on the washing machine?

Thanks in
advance!!!

Hello picposer,:welcome:
the link above should show you what you need to connect both feeds,
shop around to get a better price.

you connect the two feeds to the y piece, the washer will only get cold water so will cost more to heat up, but most newer machines only have a cold feed anyway

Buy a 'Y' piece from a plumbing shop.
Explain what you need it for and they will give you the correct part.
Pretty obvious how to use it when you see the part.

As already said you can use a y piece but i believe it will not get to temp because it is designed to take in the hot water from your hot water supply

connect the y piece. if you have problems with it heating up
boil a kettle and pour it into the drawer where you put the liquid/powder

then turn it on

Most machines only draw in water from the hot for the very hot washes and heat the water for the rest. It would be very unusual to get a machine without a heater built in.
