ECOMAX 828 I have replaced these before on the ecotec range and the new burner is a complete re-designed part but it looks like there is a replacement flange only for this older version ?? any advice from you lot

Honest opinion new boiler time

You will probably be spending £300+ On parts etc so not worth it

its only change to the graphite gasket as original was silicon , what flange are you talking about ?

The burner flange. its difficult to see from the picture but it is warped from the heat

ah you mean the cover plate , with that your probably looking at replacing the plate - snorkel - foam insulation - possibly the fan- harness ( depending where plate is passing ) - burner insulation . shaun is right a boiler change is beneficial as cost can rise easily over £500 - 600 for which is a cost of a new boiler

Easy £250-£300 just for parts let alone labour! Id insist on a new boiler. But your right. Some people would rather repair because they are clueless.

Had this exact same problem a couple months ago, needed new fan silencer/intake, flue collector, burner door + burner, front case. Could not tell 100% but the actual HE looked warped along the surface, customer asked for a quote and it was around the same price as a boiler just for parts, took a while to convince him to replace it still but he came around, never serviced since a 'gas safe uncle' installed it...

I repaired it today £825 + vat what a fool this bloke is I told him to keep my number for a repairs next year

stupid person

I would sooner recommend a cheap Alpha or something than repair that, but his boilers working, you've been paid, everyone's happy I suppose?

why moan when you've got future repair work coming up and also you earned some good money :)
