council
A council is a group of people who come together to consult, deliberate, or make decisions. A council may function as a legislature, especially at a town, city or county/shire level, but most legislative bodies at the state/provincial or national level are not considered councils. At such levels, there may be no separate executive branch, and the council may effectively represent the entire government. A board of directors might also be denoted as a council. A committee might also be denoted as a council, though a committee is generally a subordinate body composed of members of a larger body, while a council may not be. Because many schools have a student council, the council is the form of governance with which many people are likely to have their first experience as electors or participants.
A member of a council may be referred to as a councillor or councilperson, or by the gender-specific titles of councilman and councilwoman.
Is working for the council as a plumber a horrible jobs? The package with hols/ pension seems good. But have read some peoples reviews on being a plumber for a council some sound poor. I was thinking I could maybe get career progression with the council
The council are offering to update the fire and inefficient old radiators and replace the old fashioned boiler with a new combi one. They want to move the boiler from the tank cupboard in the bedroom to the much bigger walk-in wardrobe, presumably for convenience as there seems to be a gas pipe...
I passed my city and guilds level 3 gas course and need to complete a portfolio. I have a job waiting for me with my local council, but need to complete this in order to work for them. It has been soooo stressful I've been let down so many times and keep having to tell my job that I have been...
Looking for urgent plumbing advice - we have a communal heating system in our ex-council flat, and individual hot water tank in the bathroom. for a week we haven't had hot water coming out of the taps and the tank is stone cold. 2 plumbers/engineers so far have tried to clear the suspected...
Hi everyone. I was looking for some advice. I’ve been plumbing for around 4 years now not quite got the confidence to go out on my own just yet but a opportunity to become a council plumber has arisen I’m in 2 minds weather to take it or not. Anybody worked for the council before? Would it be a...
Apologies if this isn’t the right group but I’m trying to put together a small website for my Dads business and I really want to get hold of the GCN database. I’ve googled until my fingers have bled with no joy.
Does anyone know who/how you get a copy of this database or who owns the data?
any...

Any thoughts?
Hi all,

Hi all.
This is a silly question, if I live in a council property and I'm gas safe registered am I allowed to carry out any gas work?
Reason I ask this is, when I had my Gas Safe inspection the inspector told me I couldn't touch any of the appliances cos I haven't had permission from the...
Hi all, I Stripped the gland nut on stopcock like an idiot. I did not pack the gland properly and kept tightening the nut to stop the drip, by doing this i destroyed the nut.

Hi all,
I live in a council flat and have a combi boiler and i just noticed today (after it's been raining very heavily) that there is a tapping sound coming down into this large pipe that goes from the boiler and up into the attic (sorry i'm pretty thick at this kinda stuff) but i'm guessing...

Hi There,
I was just wondering if when replacing a hot water cylinder (vented), do you need to Bench Mark them and/or register their installation with the local council building control?
Obviously, you need to check everything is working correctly, but do you need to send off paper work...
