circuit
A circuit breaker is an electrical safety device designed to protect an electrical circuit from damage caused by an overcurrent or short circuit. Its basic function is to interrupt current flow to protect equipment and to prevent the risk of fire. Unlike a fuse, which operates once and then must be replaced, a circuit breaker can be reset (either manually or automatically) to resume normal operation.
Circuit breakers are made in varying sizes, from small devices that protect low-current circuits or individual household appliances, to large switchgear designed to protect high voltage circuits feeding an entire city. The generic function of a circuit breaker, or fuse, as an automatic means of removing power from a faulty system, is often abbreviated as OCPD (Over Current Protection Device).

Hi, in a small guesthouse I have 6 water heaters with built-in heat exchanger connected to a look fed by a solar heater and a heat pump. I'm wondering how to connect these heaters to the loop. I made these three...
I’ve not come across one of these before and I’m after a heads up on what lies beneath if anyone can help.
This is the flow and return pipework and is connected into what would otherwise be a blanking cap or immersion element.
There’s a few possibilities of course but I’m wondering if it’s...
I have been contacted by a customer to change their hot water cylinder.
The existing setup is - small open vent copper cylinder, 28mm primaries from woodburner to cylinder. 22mm cold feed and vent pipe. Not pumped, gravity circulation. No heating.
Can i use a normal (bigger) cylinder and repipe...
Customer wants rad changed, appears to be rusty on bottom. Then she says she *thinks* it gets hot with hot water, independent of heating.
I'm guessing that if this is the case it a) shouldn't be a standard rad b) is likely behind the rusting c) could be contaminating the hot water
Am I right...
Hi all. Has anyone come across this before where an unvented cylinder has been put on the end of a radiator circuit of a combi with a zone valve and cylinder stat?
Hi,
Sorry if the title is missleading.
I have two heating circulation pumps, one for the downstairs and one for upstairs. Each has its own room thermostat and they are supposed to work independently but the don't as we only have a single zone controller!
Anyway... we are moving over to a dual...
Currently I have a boiler and rads and hw cylinder on the one ch circuit.
What I would like to know is it possible to add a 2nd boiler to this system at the other end of the circuit.
I know you could split it up into primary and secondary circuits, and use hydraulic separation if the boilers...
Hi all,
I suspect I've incorrectly used a tee in the flow return as the two radiators don't seem to get hot enough.
I have two radiators and their flow returns feed into opposing ends of a tee.
Like below.
Rad ----|---- Rad
Return
I think it should be like -
Rad -------|------- Return...
I've noticed that my hot water primary circuit has started gurgling a lot.
My system is a conventional 'y' plan and the controller will not allow heating without hot water. The gurgling is at it's worst when there is only hot water demand.
I'm pretty sure there's no air in the system and in any...
Mate inherited this had a look this morning for him any obvious faults? ,should work far as I can tell heatmiser programmable stat fitted in the hall way . Kop
I’m an electrician. I’ve been called to customer home to trace a short circuit. When I disconnect the boiler and put my meter across live and neutral I get 118 ohms.
I called Worchesterbosch tech support and the guy said yes that’s normal, no hold on I’ll ask my mate. Then apparently said no...
Hi,
My existing system boiler if fed via a fused connection unit off the ring final circuit, when the boiler is replaced is it a requirement/best practice, that the boiler is fed via a dedicated circuit from the consumer unit to the fused connection unit.
Cheers
Ian
Any body seen this b4?
I have just moved into a bungalow and it has a Baxi Boston boiler installed around 20yrs ago (still working). Whilst up in the loft I noticed there was only one cold water tank and no header tank for the central heating. The hot water and central heating vent both...
I'm a software engineer diving head-first into the world of embedded systems design and development. This question is basically about "plumbing" -- what's the best way to physically wire up a particular circuit. So:
I have a small microcontroller evaluation module, the CC11EMK, with a 2x5...
hey guys/girls just like to know if anyone has ever come across the problem I had today, picked up New circuit board for Potterton boiler went too fit and it was too big. Thought I had been given wrong board but No. phoned Baxi they said it's never happened luckily the merchants had another board...
At a job to repipe a part 1 pipe system which has been teed from I think from pipework under boiler under floor to feed a flow/return section of the house.
My understanding of a 1-pipe system is that the pipework flowed in series.. from the first rad to the last and then returned to the...
the pilot light is on but the main burner does not come on until I slightly move the circuit board. then the contact goes loose again and the main burner stops. is it possible to identify the loose contact or faulty part? when the burner goes off i notice this part on the board keeps flashing.
is It possible to connect to a open fire already installed to feed gravity hot water and pumped heating , a conventional oil boiler boiler, its in my own house, never done it before , asked some other plumbers and they said that you can do it with a 3 port valve , there must be a way to do it...
