Hi....please can you tell me how to get the front dials off a sirrus 1850 shower....I have a constant leak coming from behind the dial...cannot see any screws to undo...It also runs cold after a couple of minutes....Any solutions(apart from scrapping it....lol).:stuart:

usually the is a cap on the front you need to prise off to revealed a screw

make sure your water is isolated and the fit isolation valves so if you do have any issues in the future you can isolate the shower

Thankyou....managed to get the front dial off,but any suggestions how to get the circlip off without the appropriate tool...lol:angry_smile:

two flat head screw drivers or two bradawls, or a combination and a few swea words should do it

Pop the plug in as well as when the circlip 'pings' off you don want to lose it

thanks tom.....including the swear words we have got that far...Now comes the hard part....we have taken it back as far as we can,but have come to a part that looks like it needs stilsons or plumbers spanner.....my hubby has tried to undo it ,but to no avail....any suggestions...sorry to be a pain but we are old,and trying....(very trying,i hear you say)....lol

Hi
Not seeing the shower it is hard for me to comment
Maybe if you could picture it
I am thinking though that the small leak you had has locked the cartridge in with some limescale build up and often this can be broken with Stillsons but you generally need the shower valve off the wall and in a towel in a vice

if i take a photo,do i send it through the image icon on this thread...

looks like you might need to hack away (carefully) at some part of the tiles as the shower has been heavily recessed by the looks of it making this process a bit difficult

I had an exact job similar to this approx 2 years ago on a Sirrus shower =[ ... I could not budge that big brass nut for all the trying and cursing... the job ended up having the tiles removed and a whole new mixer valve fitted.

When i got the old mixer removed i took it home and clamped it in a vice and got my 36" stilsons and lump hammer on the brass nut... It still did not budge...

I hope you have more luck than me =]

if we take this completely out, will it just be the pipework behind there, and can we put any shower back(instead of the sirrus 1850....also,can you recommend one, which is not too expensive.....(pensioners).....

You will find the hot, cold and supply to the shower rose or body jets etc, you should be able to fit any valve, just choose the correct one e.g. thermostatic and recessed (into the wall) and make the alterations to suit.

Just make sure you allow the right distance for the tiles etc...

It would probs be easier if you could get that nut undone tho...

thankyou to both you and Plumstar Tom for being so helpful......I can see the wall coming down at this rate, but we will try.....lol...xx

dont be too shocked that the cartridge for these is £125.
the seal kit around £25.

they are difficult to extract too as there is like a suction effect on them.

hubby got the valve out.....cleaned all parts and has had to put it back until the seal kit arrives tomorrow(FRI)....Guess what....the leaks stopped.....sods law....we will still replace the seals....once again thankyou all for your good advice.....

I was stupid enough not to check the position of the pipes under the tiles when installing a toilet and drilled right through the center of a 16 mm copper water pipe. I exposed the pipe by removing a ~30cm section of the plastic sleeve and a ~10 cm section of the pipe around the hole. Several...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
