Ciao everyone,

Me and the Mrs are living in Italy for six months over the winter to see if we can fit in with the Italians and the peaceful way of life here in Tuscany.

I wasn't intending doing any work but an Italian neighbour has asked me to plumb a new sink in to her washroom. I don't want to look a complete pratt when I go round to have look and wondered if anyone can confirm that supply and waste pipes are the same size as the UK and if the same fittings are available here.

It should be interesting trying to buy the gear as my Italian is not exact brilliant.

Buona Sierra.

You lucky sausage! Tuscany is lovely, have a great time but keep us updated with pics just to cheer us up please!

Our very good friends and neighbours sold up 2 years ago, bought a long wheel based land rover and a massive caravan, they are looking for a property to fettle and have been on a campsite which they use as a base to go view property's.
Not totally sure where they are , only they look at the alps every day.
Helen can now speak fluent italian and marcus her hubby is not far behind. We cant wait for them to get settled, we need to see them lol.
They love it there and I cant see them coming back, they have both integrated very quickly, but you must learn the language .
Good luck to you both I hope it works out , wish I was brave enough to do it.

I thought Tuscany was in France, that's how well travelled I am :1eye:
Good luck though, hope it suits you both

Lucky you, how did you manage that?

Buona Sierra.

waste pipe sizes are not compatible with English pipe it's 30mm instead of 32mm, copper pipework could be 12, 14, 15 or 16!! just go to the local merchants with it written down you'll find most speak a bit of English.
If you need a lodger call me I'll be more than happy to live there rent free:smilewinkgrin:

Best of luck Paulus. Afaik, none of the pipe sizes are the same as UK. However, do not panic as we offer an export service. Delivery is accompanied by senior management to check quality of course. :)

This was the sunrise from our front door this morning. I still can't believe how lucky we are.
Everything is going well so far. We have been to the Chestnut Festival, the Autumn Festival, the Pasta Festival, the Italians find any excuse to eat good food and drink good wine

I'm not sure why the picture came on a separate post.

We have been to this part of Italy many times so know the area well. As far as the language is concerned,I can get by in most situations but we are studying whilst we are here. We are in a hilltop town called Anghiari in Arezzo province.
Thanks for the good wishes.
