Hello All,

(First posting so please make allowances!)

Have a Potterton F40. Was very slow to ignite and sometimes flame went out although fan kept going for maybe 30mins during "On" cycle. Radiators cooled off. Got a new PCB off eBay and fitted it.

Much better now except that:

Both at initial "On" at start of timer period, and during "On" cycle when flame restarts, fan starts running OK but flame isn't ignited for another 4 minutes. So you just have fan and pump going but no flame.

Radiators get hot OK once lit and flame does ignite straight away when it does get a spark but it just doesn't sound right.

Don't have a lot of cash just now (not working at the moment so don't want to call in engineer if it isn't a real problem).

Many thanks for any advice/tips,

Sorry air, we dont gave technical advice on gas or gas-appliances unless the person is qualified.

i will say this, it doesn't matter the financial situation, you've endangered yourself and your family.
not to mention that work on a gas appliance by an untrained or unsupervised person is illegal!

turn it off and get an engineer in asap.

You lack the training, knowledge or equipment to set up or check if the appliance is running correctly.
the symptoms you have described are worrying to me just reading them!

Turn it off and yes, its a real bloody problem!

As KB correctly advised you.
