MACERATOR information pls

I'm installing a bathroom with a macerator already in use, it works fine I'm just not so familiar with these smelly beasts. There are 2 waste connectors either side for sink and bath etc, can you just use one waste connector and cap off the other? They are motion activated aren't they so this should work fine I think.
