HI, WAS WOUNDERING IF ANY ONE COULD HELP ME , I HAVE A LOUD HIGH PITCHED SOUND COMING FROM MY HOT WATER SUPPLY PIPE FROM THE HOT WATER CYLINDER , IT IS NOT CONSTANT ! WHEN YOU TOUCH THE PIPE YOU CAN FEEL IT VIBRATE . THIS SOUND IS HAPPENING WHEN THE TAPS ARE OF AND THE BOILER IS NOT FIRED UP ALOUGTH THE CYLINDER AND PIPES ARE HOT .:teeth_smile:

Had numerous occasions where this has happened in the past Dom38.

You say the noise only happens when NOTHING is being used? Is the immersion on?
 
:iagree: Check the immersion switch hasn't been accidentally switched on.
 
hi thanks to you all will check the immersion is not swiched on ! but why would this cause a problem the thermostat should cut the heat from the immersion ! thanks again :28:

yep ! but my head is sore! i am of to the pub hope there pumps are working !
 
the cylinder stat doesn't control the immersion, it is on a separate control circuit and independantly powered
 
Hello well thanks for all your advice but I am afraid to say the problem is still occurring the immersion has beem totally isolated . does any one out there have any Outher ideas ?:17:

Have a look at the ball valve in large tank may be vibrateing and transmiting noise through pipes.
