How to remove a diverter valve help please ?

Hi
I need to replace a shuttle diverter valve which is not working correctly on taps that are just two years old.
Am I right in thinking that a large hex type key would undo the the top of the tap as shown in photo and allow access to the plastic valve.?

I’m not entirely familiar with shower diverters, but the handle will link in as well, so you may need to remove a cover cap, or look for a grub screw.

As above remove handle if its a half decent make could still be under guarantee.
