I need to stop the dripping from the cold side of the unit. The tap goes from full on to off in half a turn so I assume it has a ceramic valve. Normally you prise the cap off, however there seems no gap at all and a knife will not locate a gap. Here is a photo

Next I tried unscrewing the lever handle and the double ended threaded rod that fixes it into the moving part of the tap. Photo

Then I tried easing off the moving part of the tap, hoping that the threaded rod that was removed was securing it. Photo

That didn't work either. Can anybody help me get this tap dismantled? Thanks

Possibly inside or under here?

In your first photo you are trying to prise off an end cap. There is an inner circle below where you are trying, I’m pretty sure there will be a screw under that - try using a brand new Stanley knife blade.

Further to the saga, I did find an Allen key that fitted but the screw was stiff and graunchy but it did come off. I replaced the O-ring seal and had the graunchy hole retapped at the local engineering works.

But it still leaks. I now realise that it leaks from the body of the valve rather than the seal with the main tap.

The local shop sells ceramic tap inserts but the splines are a different pitch

So I am uncertain what to do.

Yours looks like a 28 spline.
Make sure you measure the seat depth properly from the underside of the shoulder to the very end of the red seal. That is VITAL.
Try the LUNNS website.

Hello plumbers in my internet. So the Mrs want a spray mixer tap in the kitchen as we had two separate taps. I changed the tap for a temporary two hole mixer but the cold water pressure is high mains fed and the hot is low pressure immersion tank fed. I've been trying to find info on what I...

Our kitchen mixer tap has started dripping. Like so much of the plumbing in our almost new build bungalow, it is lacking! The plumber didn't install any isolating cocks in the H&C feed to the tap so how can I identify which of the valves is passing? Shut the whole H&C water system down?

I have a plumber coming tomorrow to change a cartridge on a badly dripping tap on my bathroom mixer unit. There is no separate isolating valve for this tap so I'll have to close the stopcock. I tried closing it today but it won't go absolutely 100% closed and there is still a very slight flow...
