HOT WATER Problem Help!! Needed

Good Morning fella's. I have noticed over the past couple weeks a humming noise in the hot water pipe work. This occurs every time the hot water tap is put on either in the kitchen or bathroom. To rectify the humming noise I have to turn on the cold water tap in the bathroom and the humming noise sub sides. It is not just when the water is hot but also when the hot water is tepid due to not putting the h/w cylinder on. My system is a vented gravity fed system. If you have any idea's it would be gratefully received. Hiretools...

Try changing the tap washer to see if that fixes it, if not, let us know.

Sounds like water hammer to me. I'd be looking at the float operated valve in the cold water cistern first.
