Hi

I have just changed a Siemens 3 port midway Actuator, now I only changed like for like at the Main terminal box, but when I switched the system on only the hot water is working, turn tank stat down and wind up the room stat nothing.

After fitting the same for same actuator, I noticed a bit of **** workmanship, a mains feed to a connector joining a 2.5mm2 flat cable, a 1.5mm2 flat, and a small 1mm2 white round cable , all wrapped up with tape .
Now has I was pulling the tape off I noticed the blue wire from the white 1mm2 just inside the tape, so I thought well if it has pulled out of the block there will be a terminal loose, but alas no loose terminal , so my Conundrum is as the room heating is not coming on, it must be, that the blue wire has come out of the terminal block, but which one ! .

PS: Just a note , they do not have a controller, it is just on a plug timer in the cupboard, if they want hot water quick they just turn the room stat down !.

Cheers
Spike

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...

Hi they used to say as a last resort you could discharge the D2 pipework at high level and turn it back to the wall. Similar to a combi boiler. I have just looked back through the regs this seems to have changed and it isn't mentioned now. It now mentions if at high level it should be discharged...

Hello all, I’m replacing a concrete paving slab patio in the back yard. The original patio used 50mm deep concrete slabs on hardcore & sand. I’m planning to pour a 100mm deep concrete patio on 100mm hardcore. In order to achieve the same final height to line up with the rest of the patio, I...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
