Hi there am looking to install, or have installed a water softener. Fairly hard water where I live and my daughters are struggling a little bit now with a dry skin. Can anyone recommend best ones to have either for me to do myself (quite competent around plumbing) or to have installed. Thanks for your time, Andy

There are a number of threads here, do a search and you will get much information. But in essence think of a water softener as a long term (20+ year investment), go for the best that you can afford - twin cylinder (non electric) and block salt are the bees knees!

Get an Ion-exchange water softener, stay away from Kinetico as they are too expensive and not that reliable.

On the contrary, my Kinetico has been working reliably and giving me soft water, both here and in France for 20 years

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

Hi all. Hope you have all been keeping well. A while back I decided I only wanted to fit one brand of boiler and decided on Viessmann due to space for servicing and changing parts if ever needing to. I am finding my decision rather hard due to the different clearances on flue runs and cupboards...
