Evening all,

This cscs business may seem like old news, however i have been working all over the south east doing all types of plumbing and heating jobs on all types of sites and it has only just become an issue...

I'm on a long term contract at the moment and got on site with my cscs test pass cert., although they did moan about it. making me think that its only a matter of time before I'm not actually allowed on site.

the problem is that i need a trade specific card, from j.i.b, however i don't hold the relevant nvq's.

i have been in the trade for 8 years or so and i have the opinion that I'm as 'qualified' as anyone else.

i saw the 'plumbing employee' green type card, is that much use?

is there a way i can gain the nvq 2 with relative ease (ie. no college), then get the right card?

I will be gas safe registered by about February, does that mean i will be able to get the right card with no nvq?

should i just get the basic cscs white card and ride my luck!?

Any help or advice from those in a similar situation or have been would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

got the gold card but never had to show it! I cant remember but I think that experience should help you qualify for a trade card but you will need proof of experience if not, when gas safe reg. you will have no probs.
