Hi

Basically I have an old Glow Work Fuelsaver 2 boiler.

Last couple of weeks it has been making kettling noises so had gas engineer out to look at it and he got some air out the system, gave the pump a clean and said he thinks the heat exchanger is nearly blocked and given the age there is no way to clean it as the chemicals he has arent likely to clear it.

All in all looks like I am going to have to bite the bullett and get a new boiler.

The heating engineer I use does not seem very keen on doing the job, think he prefers fixing rather than installing as have asked for a quote a couple of times but never seem to get it.

I live in a dorma bugalow, 2 bedrooms downstairs, attic split in to 2 bedrooms. Overall there are 7 radiators.

I realise it is a bit like how long is a piece of string but if you were talking ball park figure for how much this would cost me all in to change over what ball park would I be in?
I dont want to call people out for quotes wasting their time if the price is going to be so high I cant afford it.

Only issue is the access upstairs, i think a lot of floorboards will need to be taken up for whoever does it to get to the pipework.

Any ideas or advice much appreciated

THanks

Chris

What area are you and how long a warranty do you want. Mainstream brands range from 2 to 10 years in broad terms and of course this dictates the cost..

Hi

MAny thanks for reply

I am in North Wales and was assuming it was 2 years warranty so guess that would be ok

My boiler has gone off twice tonight, have re-lit it and it stays on for between 30 and 60 minutes with radiators on then goes out. Looks like I am going to have to get it done whatever but would like to have an idea of what I am going in to price wise

Thanks

Chris

if you dont mind where in north wales are you?

if you would like to either you call us or we can call you tomorrow or any other day to suit you

will send you a pm

Ideal Imax would do the job for you :8:

Is that the same kind of boiler i have now?

Thats the thing im not sure what i should be asking for. All everyone seems to talk about is a combi boiler, in fact i didnt even realise there was anything but them now.

Mine now is a condenser i think. I've seen a heat exchanger for sale at ÂŁ300 but not sure if that woud stop it turning itself off. Have spent a few quid on it of late so figure it has got to the stage where replacing is going to be the best bet

No it's an internal joke (commercial boiler) sorry

Also tried to pm you but your inbox is full

Any way boss will probably ring you tomorrow

Many Thanks
Shaun
