My son has just taken possession of a house where the wc drop valve is letting by and clearly in need of a new sealing washer. Unfortunately the former owner left no information on anything in the property and I can't see any ID on the valve itself. Searching images on Google and in an online spares specialist yielded valves similar in appearance but not exactly the same. Nor can I see how to separate the 'plunger' in order to remove the old washer to show my local plumber's merchant. Any help much appreciated.

Think it's a b&q one. Pretty they are interchangeable with a fluidmaster 550uk. These are available from most merchants and have a bayonet fitting like a light bulb for easy changing. If it doesn't work take it back

If if that does not work you might try a macdee kayla. If you inspect the valve there may be a code on it starting AV. Just give it a google
