Got a Baxi Bahama 100 with Honeywell controls that has recently started having problems and now keeps locking out. Sometimes it will start and run several times on the trot without any problem, then it has a spate of locking out; usually when it's gone cold. Pressing the reset button sometimes works first time but at other times it requires several reset attempts.

Only a very small flame or none at all can be seen when it fails, almost as though the gas valve is not opening enough.

So far the following have been changed due to this and other problems:-
  • CVI unit (twice)
  • Main PCB (however old PCB still works grrr)
  • Primary (CH) flow switch
  • Over temp stat (though the original one still appears OK)
  • Thermistor
  • Ignition electrodes (were originally cleaned but with no improvement)
  • Flame sense electrode (was originally cleaned but with no improvement)
  • Electrode leads

Also
  • There is an ignition spark that appears the same intensity when it locks out as when the boiler fires OK, suggesting it's not a fan/air flow/switch or CVI problem.

Other

  • The hot water flow switch checks out OK
  • Both the CH & HW flow switch bodies have been cleaned
  • The CH return gauze filter has been cleaned
  • The airflow switch proves OK
  • CH outlet temperature does not exceed about 60 to 70 degrees

Is it likely the gas valve is intermittently sticking and if so can this be fixed or does it need replacing?

Any help would be much appreciated

Welcome along, firstly are you Gas Safe ?? If not I hope you haven't carried out all those repairs to your boiler as it would be completely illegal. It sounds like you have a triggers broom There. If you are gas safe then get your post count up and PM one of the mods and you'll get access to the Gas Safe only forum

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...

Hi all I'm hoping someone can shine a light on this for me Since our stop tap on the pavement has now been filled with sand for whatever reason, we are relying on our property fitted stopcock (this is outside on our garage wall) Unfortunately turning this to the closed position only reduces...

I have an ideal vogue max S18 boiler and I’m considering fitting auto balancing TRVs, my question relates to the boilers pump. I see a boiler pump menu for either 70% or 100%, so, is the pump set at either one of two fixed speed percentages or does the pump actually vary speed, (modulate)...
