REDSAW

went to this job the other day that bg had a.r'd because the cooker pipe wasn't sleaved through the cavity ?.
what i did find was a comp fitting just noticeable at the bottom of the hole at the back of the cabinet.

1, am i right to think it should not be exited out the back of a inset cabinet, or is that a ncs?.
2, does the pipe need sleaving as it is not actually passing through a cavity (sort of, see pics)?
3, taking out the comp fitting and putting on a e/f sorts one thing out but, due to the cabinet, is it still a.r. or ncs?. or new cabinet jobbie?. typical landlord diy i recon.
i may have asked this one allready?
your views please.

should be sleeved and sealed inside meter box a/r agree with bod

I'd say new inset meter box and either utilise the through wall kit that comes with them or exit the meter box and sleeve through the cavity Redsaw :) Landlords paying end of day eh? It isn't easy getting hold of meter boxes, bye-the-way. I ended up tracing a door I needed to replace at Build Center!

so the pipe exiting the rear of the cabinet is ok then?.
incidently, the red pot around the pipe is the internal plaster skim. and the pipe does not pass through any brick work, or does it?.

Who on earth did that brickwork? Gas work looks a bit AR to me.

bit of an abortion aint it.lol
if i got rid of the compresion and fitted the cabinet back, would it be still a.r, as its bugging me?.
i cant access the p/work on the other side as its plastered and behind cabinets, and re-route not going to be paid for.

I would ask the question, when the cabinet is refitted, is the compression fitting accessible?

no, i took that out and fitted an end feed coupler, as thats what the cust said bg failed it on.

I don't know if the red clay bit was supposed to be a purpose built channel which was built very badly, but there is no way i would be leaving a pipe in there. It is open to the cavity.
Strip it back and repipe. Then check the neighbours  lol

any concelled pipework that carnt be seen you carnt use compression fittings on it has to be endfeed soldered and continues if you carnt get at it you carnt use compression also ad always sleeve no comebacks then

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
