If you've got 90 minutes of free time, watch Guy Martin's Spitfire C4 on catch-up.
Simply brilliant.

Im happy to watch anything with him in it. Comes accross as a genuinely nice bloke.

I had thought of posting on here about the same programme to tell everyone to watch it, but then thought it was only me having an interest in it.
It has everything in it, - history, human story & heroism, plus engineering & spitfires in the air.
Love the bit with the BMW car!

Guy Martin is a proper fruit.....and not in a rainbow sort of way. He is a one off the likes of which i don't think you will see another. I still cant believe he got his hands on a Rolls Royce Merlin engine which graces his front room.......i hate him for that. I did watch the Spitfire program and it was brilliant, but when Guy got to fly in a Spitty, i hated him again........fuzzy faced git.....GIT........GIT !

Well worth a watch though.

My mate did that last year somewhere around Lincolnshire? Can find out where if you want he was raving about it.

Thanks for the offer, but its being organised as we speak............

Got a feeling there`s only 1 in the uk doing it and their trying to raise £`s to make it air worthy.

They have put off the air worthiness in favour of collecting more money from the tour de airfield as its raising so much money. One merlin sounds unreal....but four!

Lived in Bracknell Berks and remember I was walking to the pub one summer evening when I heard a sound and being a bit of a petrol head knew it wasn`t no car. Looked up over my shoulder and there was a spitfire, hurricane & a lancaster coming really really low that left me pretty gob smacked !
Heard the sound since and just love it, there is no other like it. Turns out it was some annual flypast over the Bracknell air force HQ or something like that. Heard it`s now a housing estate.

Guy is definatly the man, on another topic a guy put one of those engines in a sd1 rover!

was doing a bathroom and came outside for a cig n a cuppa.
Heard this weird engine noise in sky (am on a flightpath)
looked up and 2 spitfires and a Lancaster came over the top of the house. The noise ....wow . Amazing site . Much respect to those who built and flew them
