I'm new here - please be gentle with me! Our kitchen tap is leaking, both from the cold tap, and the ‘bottom’ of the mixer spout. Pictures attached. Can anyone tell me what should be present on the mixer spout – i.e. should it be a washer or an O ring? The PTFE tape is only just holding...

What's your opinion on this flue

Hiya, just been and done a survey for a combi swap and came across this. It's a 4th storey flat, modern condenser going in obviously, customer is aware of the plume and is fine with it. I suggested running the flue along and out the canopy but the customer isn't happy with this. I'm quoting...

Pump and zone valves on return, but what's the system called.

Firstly, this is not a job and I will not be working. We recently had our 3-port or mid-position replaced with zone valves, couldn't really see what it was that well due to its installation. I had looked at it in wonder for some time as what I thought was flow went into the hot water or...

Narrowing down a section of waste pipe - what's the effect?

The short version of the question... what will be the effect of introducing a short section of 32mm pipe into a 40mm waste pipe run from a sink? The narrowed length of pipe will only be about 15% the total length of run but will also constitute an elb0w. The slightly longer version of the...

    Checkatrade what's people's thoughts?

hi I'm about to start up a business. I'm after some thoughts on checkatrade. What's people's experiences with them? As plumbers do people get much work from checkatrade? The fees seem expensive, do they seem worth it based on how much work you get from them? How long have you been trading and...

Which would you use with a shower pump mounted on the floor next to a 36x18 cylinder. Not big on shower pumps but I am replacing a cylinder soon which has a shower pump installed off an Essex. Reason for asking is, I have had a Surrey in the van for many moons. This could be a chance to get...

Hello all. Quick question. Does anyone know what brand of shower valve this is (for some reason, the picture seems to turn on its side when I insert it - should show with all valve handles vertical)? There is no branding marked on it anywhere, but it seems high quality stuff. I have spent...
