loft
A loft is a building's upper storey or elevated area in a room directly under the roof (American usage), or just an attic: a storage space under the roof usually accessed by a ladder (primarily British usage). A loft apartment refers to large adaptable open space, often converted for residential use (a converted loft) from some other use, often light industrial. Adding to the confusion, some converted lofts include upper open loft areas.
This is a picture of the heating setup in our loft. It's all relatively new and I was wondering why we have two enormous cylinders?
One is for hot water, I get that but the system is a mains fed pressurised system so what is the second one for please? There are also two smaller tanks which I...

Having just moved into a property and discovering the central heating not functioning, after 3 months we eventually was able to get the property management to have one of their heating engineers attend. He was literally here 10mins and in the loft space for 2mins, where he stated he discovered...
Hi folks
Following on from another thread I made recently, the plumber has agreed that the new cold feed he added to our loft cistern should have been lower than the existing feed to the cylinder for hot (he put them both roughly the same at 50mm) and he is proposing to put it right. In terms...
I have recently added an extra floor to my 3 bed semi by converting my loft.

I've got some upcoming plumbing work and everything is being drained down for it, so I'm taking the opportunity to replace the boards under the tank in the loft because they have signs of woodworm... I'm hoping to use 18mm ply because it is available at B&Q where they will cut it to size...

Hi
I’m after some advice about the pipework for my loft conversion.

My question is can I drill through all these...
First - an apology for monopolising the forum with all my plumbing questions! I'm hoping this will be my last and I'll move onto something else (like choosing a woodburner, which is the next thing on the to do list)...
My situation... We've having a bathroom refit and will have a new bath with...
Hi all,
I live in an end of terrace house and there are two overflow pipes next to each other on my neighbours side of the fence. I assumed that the one closest to us was our overflow pipe. It has recently started dripping constantly and it is damaging our fence. Thinking it was my issue, I...

Hi,

Good morning. Working on a loft conversion and need to figure out how to route water from the shower and toilet.

Has anyone done that before? Will...
I've recent moved into a home which is served by a conventional gas boiler that feeds the radiators and a cylinder in an upstairs cupboard. I don't understand the plumbing layout and so I'm hoping someone can help me based on what I can post here! Thanks.
There are two water tanks in the loft...
