Thanks, hopefully i'll have some luck soon! lol

Not sure if BG have their own outlet or auctions but you could try checking for auctions on trade vehicles in your area

most of the large car auctions handle some of the bg fleet sales there are so many bg vans they have to go to auction a reasonable distance from ther bases

I have an ex BT van and the rackings excellent. Low mileage too a lot of them!

BG vans are leased from BT Fleet, after the lease is finished they are sent back to BT Fleet who then tart em/clean them up and auction them off. They are often sold in bulk so you will find that some people have more than one for sale. They are generally in good condition.

if it has slam locks then make sure you get spare keys or you may end up having to change them.

Yes BCA is the place to go, got my van from there, ex southern electrical. Full service history, 100,000 miles, 1 previous owner (bit high but I paid very little for it) all sorts of vans there.

You go, bid on the vehicle you want, pay £500 straight away. then go and pay the rest at the counter.

best to go first and see how things work, make sure you go into the area where they start the vehicle, check that the vehicle starts first time, i.e. have a look before it goes into auction room.

The same type of vehicle can go for a massive difference in price depending on time of day.

i.e. vauxhall vivaro, ex bt van, 90,000 miles can go for £6,000 at 10 am and another one exactly the same can go for £9,000 at 11 o clock.
reason is that there is dealers there and they will go for the best inside condition one, as well as mileage, i.e.
I would never go to a van dealer as I know they get the vans from there and you are paying Atleast £1,000 on top of the price you could pay on there.

just remember,

1. VAT on top of sale price ( on most vehicles)
2. The auction fee on top of price, based on the final sale fee.

like i say best to go first to see how things work, they are every week, so you can go back the following week to buy.

slam locks are additional locks that are fitted to doors, normally back and side that automatically lock when door is closed. BG used to fit them on most vans, Royal mail fit them so there drivers can slam door shut while holding parcels.

the problems you get is its very hard to get spare keys, some lock mnaufactures will not supply spare keys and it can be hard to get them cut due to the nature of the key. They can be a pain if you put your keys down and you slam the door shut, so its important to have a spare key in your pocket.

vehicle security installers make a good living breaking into many vans and replacing the slam locks, thats what i was told by the installer i used to fit my deadlocks.

I bought an Ex BT van just 3 weeks ago from BCA in Bridgewater, Vauxhall Vivaro 2007. 31,000 on the clock. One owner and full maintenence record. It cost me £5000 + VAT plus auctioneers fees of £380. Well Happy with it.

Google BCA and find the nearest auction site to you. If you sign up online (no charge) then you can access the list of vans going through the next auction which includes details ie make / model, age, service history and mileage and the terms & conditions of BCA. Would advise sticking to your £`s limit and keeping £500 back in case you find a problem afterwards. Used to make a half decent 2nd income from BCA in the 70`s but some you win and some you lose.
