I contacted him this morning he's in Wales, have asked another engineer to come on Friday . The only electrical parts the second installer touched is to install a new room thermostat, on original wiring (is this ok), new timer and sort out the spaghetti junction wiring.

In your orginal post you say the 3 way (port) has been replaced and you happen to know the model so it should be that installer that returns to correct it. Another engineer might justifiably say I'm not touching it but having said that Screwfix have a no quible returns policy so you should be able to get a refund or swap for a new unit.

Not sure it was that exact model, I do remember it was a flomaster, ill be abke to confirm exac model number when I get home, if the rain hasn't destroyed the box. Are flomasters notoriously bad?

It's got some very bad reviews on Screwfix site, especially the ones off engineers/plumbers a number of whom have replaced it with Honeywell ones not long after installing. There's a reason they're so much cheaper.

My guess would be wrongly wired from day one and your engineer has just redone what was there. I bet if you pop the head off the new one the fuses stop blowing

He tidied up the wiring in the junction box in the airing cupboard, he said it was a spaghetti junction. Could well still be wrong perhaps?

The fact that he’s “tidied” it doesn’t mean he hasn’t just shoved it all back in, as it was before. I suspect someone (previous homeowner) found that valve was causing electrical issue and removed head

He tried to reconnect it in case it somehow miraculously fell off it was knackered. The previous owners didn't even have the system flushed before fitting new boiler

Again could be poorly wired meaning the motor burned out. Please don’t ignore the fact that there could be a wiring fault

It's permantley in this position?

Does it move easy to the wall (you will have to move the lever) etc when the heating or hot water is on ?

I'll have a go in the morning as the system SHOULD wake up (fingers crossed). I did just turn boiler on and it was doing it's usual...lights on ,making noise ,no hot rads. So we'll see in the morning ‍♂️

So it could be permanntly on. Please just get an experienced heating engineer in to wire it properly
Just had a look in the airing cupboard while I await the engineer I noticed that the wires from the central heating pump and cylinder thermo are touching hot piping...could this potentially be a reason for tripping out? Or just previous shoddy workmanship

Unless they’re bare wires I’d say no chance

That would cause it to trip

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

I want to reconnect some outbuildings to an existing water supply. The supply pipe is old 22mm MDPE and buried for a fair distance so not going to dig it up and replace it 😬. Question is can I use normal 22mm plumbing push-fit connectors to make the connection as finding 22mm MDPE fittings...
